Best leave in conditioner ever

After years of trying to tame my very thick, coarse, wavy/frizzy hair, I have found it. Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner.

It's turned my wavy bob from a sticky out triangle to smooth, manageable waves.

Thanks will try this I have very thick coarse mid back length hair I have been using Elvive dream lengths no hair cut cream which is a leave in conditioner that's good as well

Do you mean this one? www.boots.com/cantu-shea-butter-for-natural-hair-leave-in-conditioning-cream-340g-10265275
There are a couple of different ones...

CaliforniaDrumming · 22/12/2021 20:14

yes, that's the one. It's very rich, mind. But my hair gets super dry in winter.

EezyOozy · 22/12/2021 20:15

jerryg · 22/12/2021 20:41

Thank you!

CaliforniaDrumming · 22/12/2021 20:57

My hair is prob somewhere between a 2 b and a 2 c on the hair type chart if you know what that is.

Is it curly girl friendly does anyone know please?

Fireworksatforty · 22/12/2021 21:29

@CaliforniaDrumming how do you use it? And how much? I have type 2c hair and the last time I used Cantu products they just felt sticky and my hair felt and looked awful but I'd be willing to try again. I think that was the curl activator and I may have used it wrong!

BewareTheRedNosedDragon · 22/12/2021 21:34

Looking at the list of ingredients it looks good for curly girl method.

Sickoffamilydrama · 22/12/2021 21:59

I found it to heavy for me but perhaps I was using it incorrectly and used to much. I'm 3b/c
I've been squashing to condish which is when you scrunch your hair when it has conditioner in it, some people also do it with some water in their hands. The theory is that you squash water into the hair cuticle.
I do it again when I get out of the shower after putting leave in conditioner it has definitely improved the condition of my hair.

If your hair is dry are you using something to trap the mouisture into your hair like a gel? My teen DD goes through phases of using gel or just not bothering her hair gets much drier when she doesn't bother.

CaliforniaDrumming · 23/12/2021 08:41

I take a small amount-maybe 50 p size- and scrunch it through my damp hair, while skipping the roots.

It may well be too sticky for some; sorry if it is. My hair is very thirsty and coarse.

Sorry no idea if curly girl approved. I found curly girl way too much faff, esp now I am WFH!

I like( mixed chicks) leave in conditioner, it's for kids so its light but rich enough for my hair. My hair is major frizzy but curls with product on it. Think almost afro but not quite, I've never met anyone with hair like mine, it's cute though

Ddot · 23/12/2021 20:00

I find best way to apply leave in conditioner is to rub it into your hands like a hand cream front and back, then scrunch your hair rub hands together again then scrunch repeat till all gone I then wet my hands rub what's left again and repeat.

MummyToOrla · 23/12/2021 20:07

I use the Noughty intensive care leave in - not too heavy and not too scented. Also works really well watered down in a spray bottleas a detangler/refresh spray for days 2/3. Tried Cantu but found it too heavy for my 2b/2c waves. Love the Cantu activator though - and their cowash...which reminds me to pick some up as have run out lol

I have to say k18 is the best leave in conditioner that I have ever used. It is better than olaplex. My hair is very damaged from years of colouring and straightening. Olaplex just stopped working for me then my hairdresser changed from olaplex to this and it is amazing! You need just one small 1ml pump. www.k18hair.com/products/leave-in-molecular-repair-hair-mask-50-ml-1
