Long padded coat for chubby pear

Looking for a padded coat (probably mid thigh) for a short size 16. Needs to be warm and water resistant.

Issue I have is that I carry all of my weight on my lower tummy/hips/thighs. Also very short waisted. So a lot of coats are tight around that area and still baggy around my shoulders.

Any ideas?

I got it in an 18 though - unusually for M&S seems to come up small.

Try Uniqlo and you’d need a L or XL

Uniqlo is good but speaking a fellow high waisted, short pear shape they can be quite straight up and down sometimes.

I know it’s not exactly padded but I have a sea salt one, think it’s plant hunter, and it has a drawstring adjustable waist (drawstring is on the inside so can’t see it) so it enables me to pull it in a bit to give me a bit of shape at the waist whilst having it roomy enough on the bum and hips.

Oh and it is padded and very warm just isn’t a puffer coat

And I don’t think you can beat sea salt for waterproof-ness

Thanks @User2638483. I looked at sea salt yesterday actually as they do big petite which can be tricky to find. I will look again.

It's warm and waterproof without being too dowdy I'm after. I had a padded Uniqlo some years ago but lost weight so donated it. It wasn't the best fit tbh for exactly the reasons you mentioned

I don't fit in seasalt vista due to problem OP describes. Either too big on top or not enough space in hip area.

I have this exact problem OP and almost posted the other week. Really want a toasty long coat but am short, fat and very pear shaped. 😬

I bought this one from trespass a few weeks ago. Was almost ok but just slightly too tight across the top of the hips. Might be ok if you were slightly smaller at the top of the hips. It had plenty of room at bottom of hip and thigh. It's waterproof and super toasty.

I've got a Jack Wolfskin padded one, and had to go up 2 sizes for it to do up over my hips.... and means it's way too long in the arms!

My last coat was Trespass and I grew out of it (ie got too fat). I still have it as it zips up and I need something but I look like a burst sausage in it so I am a bit wary of getting another.

There is a parka in the Boden sale but sold out if a 16p in the colour I want. They have a normal 16 but that won't fit in the right place.

I could just stop eating cake I suppose but maybe not this week.

I am of a similar shape and got a cheap and cheerful one in H and M. I'm more of a 12-14 but VERY pear shaped. I got M and it's a good size.
