Dr Martins - are they really that good?

I've coveted DM's for years but never had the money. I like the style and imagine they'll last and ended up moulded to your feet like a waterproof comfortable foot glove. There are absolutely loads for sale on vinted these days which means I could afford / justify a pair. But if they're that amazing, why are people selling them on?!

@SisterAgatha

I have to say my heels have never hurt but the top of my foot has.

I tried on the Vonda recently and even in the shop I knew my ankles would rub. I think each pair is different tbh. The Pascal doesn’t need breaking in, the leather is as thin as a leather jacket.

Yes apparently this is common. On both pairs of mine it hurts like hell across the top of my foot. The rest of it is fine. I have tried blowing the leather soft with a hair drier - this gives some comfort initially. I think you just have to wear them more and it stops

@RoseRedRoseBlue

Yes they are, but the breaking in period is painful!
Agree I think I I still have scars on my ankles from the 90s 😩

I downsized in the kids ones too.

I have the Pascal ones and they rubbed the first time I wore them but that was it really. I have walked miles in them since buying them last autumn and they're great. I have wide feet and bought my usual size and they are fine.

There is a fascinating youtube channel called Rose Anvil where this bloke cuts boots in half and shows how they are made. The quality is not really worth the price but some are for sure better than others. If I recall the vegan ones have proper supportive midsoles unlike the regular ones. Anyway take a look its kind of mesmerising lol.

Pascals here too, and comfy since day one (and I have tricky wide feet).
Sadly, DD2 decided she rather liked them, and is the same shoe size, so they are now enjoying the student life down in Sussex. Hmm

Also a follower of Rose Anvil.

Did you catch his Halloween Goth video and the clog one?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/12/2021 13:36

Yes I liked the new rocks one as well, very entertaining!
