Has anyone had fillers for jowls and marionettes?

Getting very down about my marionette lines and jowls. I am 50 and would like to try fillers to look a bit more lifted and refreshed. Has anyone had this done? I am a bit worried about side effects. Those of you who had it done, can you feel your fillers under the skin? I am in London and would also be happy to have recommendations. I am willing to pay good money for someone reputable!

I had dermal fillers for marionette lines, about 4 years ago, costing £700 at a posh clinic in town. (It was done in 2 sessions) and I loved the results! It lasted about 15 months.

A recently had them done again but went to a chemist near to me, where the man injected the stuff in one go. £200 so very much cheaper. The results are good. I'll certainly go back there when it needs doing again.

I had some swelling and bruising each time, which went after about a week (bruises were covered with make-up)

I'm 62

@TheCreamCaker, thanks for you reply. Can I ask if you “feel” that your fillers are there or do you just see the difference? When you said it lasted 15 months. Is this when it started to wear off or does it start to wear off earlier and is completely worn off after 15 months?

SadandSaggy I felt the filler but it wasn't unpleasant, just different. The stuff is absorbed into the body, took about 13 months before it started to fade, then by 15, 16 months had gone altogether. This time, I felt the fillers a lot, my mouth looked quite puffy, and I felt a definite lump in one corner. That was about 2 months ago, and the results are really good. I'm happy.

I do! I have my nose to lip lines done about every year, I have lip filler too.
I have had marionette filler but not for over a year.
I'm also 50. This is the bottom half of my face with no makeup, I love mine.
My lady says they are her favourite thing to do.
You can feel it if you poke about but it gets harder to find with time.

That looks great. Really natural

Yeah. Very nice.

@ufucoffee thanks, I am happy with it :)

50!? You have beautiful skin...
confettiballoons · 24/12/2021 20:03

How are you 50! And where do you go?

LadyJJ · 24/12/2021 20:07

Aww thanks everyone, I am lucky with skin somehow.
@confettiballoons I go to a lady in Bradford, she's not a medical professional and I pay £90 a ml, she's very good at faces tho.
Either her or Kita aesthetics in Burnley but I think I've only had lips and botox there.

LadyJJ · 24/12/2021 20:15

@SadandSaggy what side effects are you particularly worried about? I'd go and have a consultation with someone and see what they think, sorry can't recommend anyone as am way up in Yorkshire.
I'm sure someone will though

TerraNovaTwo · 24/12/2021 20:18

I have these lines. Happy to die this way. Merry Christmas

turnaroundtime · 24/12/2021 20:54

Be very careful. It's less common to fill these lines now as the trend has moved to filling higher at the cheeks to lift the face rather than fill the crease. The crease is often caused by fullness (fat) falling down (gravity) above the line causing the crease. Filling the line can result in a puffed out monkey face. What is often better is refilling higher and lifting the fullness back up where it was.

turnaroundtime · 24/12/2021 20:57

This explains it better

LadyJJ · 24/12/2021 21:07

@turnaroundtime mine are all above the lines sort of scaffolding them , never occurred that they would be "in".
Interesting read tho

SadandSaggy · 25/12/2021 09:56

@LadyJJ, I am booking a consultation for early January. I am worried about having an adverse reaction I suppose and also that I will feel the fillers and that my face will feel different. My face is making me feel miserable though eventhough it’s probably not that bad for 50. I want to look like you Smile

LadyJJ · 25/12/2021 10:12

I think fillers are pretty benign adverse reaction wise, although I do know someone who reacts to them post covid. If you go to a clinic you can talk all this through.
You can feel them at first, they feel like little lines of gel, but you have to poke about in your face to feel them.
I do look slightly different to 5 years ago before I had anything, but most people are surprised when I tell them about what I have had done, its not "in your face" different.
Ty for the kind words, happy Christmas and let us know how you get on x

Please do, otherwise I'll be tempted by wanting to look like @LadyJJ (realise this is an oldish thread, but am sick of marionette lines).
Mckmck123 · 16/02/2022 19:50

I expected a little bruise but I have this from marionette line fillers
Lady used a needle maybe a cannula would have been better ?

Don't forget to consult save face online for approved and registered practitioners. You don't want some random "aesthetician" anywhere near your face!

Mckmck123 · 16/02/2022 19:55

Califrown
Straight after she did it I was pleased but the bruising is quite bad.

I have put concealer on it but as you can see it’s very visible
Hoping it will go quite quickly
Like you I hated my marionette lines let’s hope they look better. I can’t really tell at the moment

Thanks for sharing the photo. I'm cross with myself for even thinking of this, as I always thought I would just grow older gracefully. Which I am clearly not doing.

Apart from the bruise it looks good

This can be normal. I usually have some too for maybe up to a week. You can already see you have no lines. I'm sure it will look great.

In general I would add be very careful about who you go to with fillers and botox.
