DD is turning 18 shortly and we’d like to get her a necklace as a present - gold with a diamond and/or pearl pendant. Budget £200 ish.

I’ve been browsing online but uninspired. I was wondering whether there were particular brands that are good for that age? I’ve looked at Pandora but couldn’t see anything suitable

Swarovski?

I would suggest looking at your local independent jewellers. My local one does amazing prices in comparison to the regular high street chains. I love comparing the same identical things from each store. They're often nearly half the price at the independent jewellers. I'm sure you could find a lovely and suitable pendant at an independent. And they're more luckily to give you a discount if you ask versus a high street chain.

But most are gold vermeil - not gold per se - but very pretty designs.

Perhaps a 2nd hand / estate jewellery thing ? That takes some looking for though - I will admit.

Tiffany
Vivienne Westwood seems to be all the rage - the gold or silver orb with diamantés.

If you are looking for real gold / diamonds / pearls, go to an independent jeweller.

For more contemporary, try Abbott Lyon, Thomas Sabo, Hot Diamonds.

(Coming from a 22 year old with a fashion degree who's worked in a jewellers for 6 years!)

Thanks for all the suggestions- really helpful.

But you’re right - we have a lovely local independent jeweller, which is the best idea!

I always see lots of young girls in Astrid & Miyu. I recently bought some lovely earrings from them!

Sorry just read the type of necklace you would like
I'd look at vintage( secondhand) from a small independent as better value
