Clothes for teen? Help

Dd is almost 18, she has Aspergers and hates clothes shopping, she’s pretty immature and likes to wear clothes with logos/memes/pictures etc.., she has sensory issues with trousers and doesn’t like jeans (everything has to be elastic waste). She basically lives in cargo trousers and over sized hoodies, she’s pretty short with a big bust and we find it hard to find things to fit her top half as everything seems long in the arm.

I would like to buy her a few bits of clothes for Christmas, I have bought her some basic T-shirt’s and a pride t-shirt which she will love but would like to get her a trendy/comfy jacket to wear instead of the oversized hoodie she lives in.

Please don’t say “just take her shopping” or “let her chose” because she hates buying clothes and hates shopping, also I know she should wear what she finds comfortable but she’s applying for uni’s and work so she could really do with something that’s not brightly coloured with a Pokemon on it 😬. She’s not girly, doesn’t like anything cropped or tight. Any suggestions? I’m thinking maybe a plaid jacket but have no idea if they are fashionable?

Check jackets do seem to be very ‘in’ right now.
My DD also like ‘soft clothes’ and gets quite a lot of things from Tesco (of all places!) and H&M.

Oh, and she came back with a very soft, tactile furry jacket the other day which she wears all the time now. Let me see if I can find out where from.

Thank you, I’m going to tesco Friday so I will have a look in there. I think she would wear a check shirt/jacket. She has no idea what’s in fashion, she doesn’t really notice what other people are wearing which is good in a way but I don’t want to buy her something to wear to 6 form that’s totally unfashionable as she is prone to bulling as it is.

Shackets are very in just now. A cross between a jacket and a shirt. They are oversized as well so the arms should be ok. My DD is 21 and has a few of them. Most of them are soft cord so they don't feel stiff. Try looking on Pretty Little Thing, Boohoo or Misguided. They also have lots of coloured joggies/ matching sweatshirts she might like. Again these are quite soft.
My DD would wear a joggie suit with a long gillet which is good again since there are no arms which can be quite tight in bulky jackets

Shackets - that’s the word! Yeah, a cross between shirt and jacket, not sure how warm they are. Just had a quick look at H&M but can’t find the one my DD got as there are 100s. Loads of lovely faux fur and teddy jackets though.

I was looking at this but thinking it might look too baggy? Everything seems to look huge on her she has too size up to accommodate her boobs (shes a E).

I will have a look at the places suggested and look in tesco on Friday when I’m doing my shopping.

Shackets are meant to be worn open with a t-shirt or something underneath according to DD so that would maybe help the boob issue

There’s a place called Lucy and Yak and they do really nice stuff which is good for people who are neurodivergent as there are no annoying labels etc.

Sorry for crappy link!

What about stuff with shows or computer characters she’s into? There’s a place called Truffle Shuffle and they do nice character tshirts and stuff.

Lovemusic33 · 15/12/2021 10:47

I love Lucy and yak, she probably wouldn’t wear anything from them because I wear it 🤣.

Have you looked at Brandy Melville? There’s a lot of tight stuff but ignore that. I just got my DD a nice jumper which is baggy on me. They only do one size but the things that look roomy in the pictures aren’t small uk.brandymelville.com/

Thank you everyone, have managed to buy her a shirt/jacket, I run it by her first to make sure she will actually wear it. Would love to find her a bag too but she likes bags that go across body rather than just over one arm 🤔.
