What would you do- hair related

Dilemma. I have 2 hair appointments booked one in a couple of days - other next week. Can only keep 1.
Appt is to cover grey. Very dark so it is very visible. My hair grows fast and I can’t colour adequately myself ( some mobility problems in shoulders.
If I keep first appointment I’m at least certain that there will be no restrictions on hair salons brought in yet so appt will go ahead. On the minus side it doesn’t quite really need doing yet and will start showing again at new year if done this week.
Will need doing by next week but am afraid of salon closures before Christmas
Seems obvious in that case to keep the first one- but that will put me nearly a week “ behind” with my regrowth showing ( which is quite a lot for me) if January restrictions brought in.
Shallow I know but in the last lockdowns the appearance of hair really contributed to negative feeling about myself
Would really welcome opinions

I'd probably keep the first appointment - a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

You've explained you can't colour it yourself - would you be mobile enough to use one of those spray on root-touch ups if it came to January and the salons were closed? I use them sometimes and they do a reasonable job of hiding my grey roots for a couple of days.

Thanks for replying
I can use the sprays on my parting which helps a bit but I can’t reach crown of head

Which is one of the worst bits

I think I'd still take the earlier appointment to make sure of it - it's all only speculation as to what might be closed in January, and if they do close you are going to be stuck with regrowth at some point.

Is there anyone (friends/family) you'd trust to box-dye it for you if that happens? You could just use a semi-permanent colour to be on the safe side.

Thanks- no there is nobody I could ask

Failing all else, it's winter so you could bung on a hat when you go out. A hat has been the saviour of many a bad hair day for me.

Not wishing to try to predict what this government will do but I think closing premises will be a last resort. With the huge drive there is on boosters hopefully we will be in a better place by the new year. I don't think there would be any appetite to comply with further lockdowns, especially given the recent revelations about what the Tories got up to in the last one. Boris isn't going to want to alienate the voters any more than he can help.

I don’t reckon salons will close this side of the New Year. I think closing businesses and schools is going to be absolute last resort stuff this time. The economy can’t take it.

You are probably right about that but it’s hard not to get keyed up about the possibility 🙂
