Do you use a diffuser?

I'm not following curly girl as I have to wash my hair most days and just don't have time to let it be sopping wet for hours in the morning! So I was thinking maybe I should try a diffuser - I've not used one in about 20 years though, are they all still the same??
I don't want to spend a load on a new hairdryer as I've already got a couple which are fine.
Anyone use one with good results? Or should I not bother?

She gives great, non-complex tips for curls. I can't deal with anything too convoluted!
