Anyone else just can't be arsed?

Since the pandemic and getting out a lot less I got truly sick of wearing leggings and my weatherproof coat and decided to buy some ~nice~ things. So I found some decent dresses, coats, a few fancy things, felt refreshing for a while, but then barely even wore them, either because of weather or just not having the lifestyle to care.
I wfh and in a very arty farty career where anything goes and no one cares. Most of my family and friends wear just leisure or weather related stuff (dog walkers, the odd horse, gardening, going somewhere for a bit of lunch like a garden centre, lol) and there just isn't a requirement for me to bother putting energy into fussy clothes just for them to get largely rained on. And I don't even have a dog!
Dresses are great in summer but I think it would be more fitting for me to just go back to my nice outdoor stuff and stop wasting money. Clothes are so bloody expensive, and I am crap at sourcing second hand.

I know that I do not need permission to do this, but does anyone else sympathise?
Can leisure or weather wear be made more special? And if so, how? How do you slap on an arcteryx top and feel put together, hehe?

I have been wondering about this as well and have come to the conclusion that grooming is very important if you’re going to live in leggings and a scruffy coat. Keep your hair and hands in good shape.

probably true!! I do spend on my hair so that's a plus point. Decent accessories too, but then they are a bit different to leather handbags and silk scarves.

My standards weren’t hugely high before the pandemic but I’ve totally let myself go. I have a wardrobe full of dresses etc that still have the tags on because I live in joggies . I actually hate myself but I never lost the weight from my second child

Sorry to hear that, sounds more encompassing than just clothing. It is a really, really rough time to go through anything right now. Please don't hate yourself, having some time out is not a personal sin.

We do seem to see dresses as 'dressing up', sometimes in mine i look worse! You can do nice casual dresses now, but winter always chases me back into leggings and rain togs.
