What to wear over evening dress?

I've got a works trip where there'll be 2 dressy dinners. It might be a bit nippy walking to the dinners but hopefully warm once inside. What can I wear over my dress that's not a wrap or full on coat?

How far will you be walking? Why not just wear a coat? Venues have cloakrooms.

I may not be going outside or I may be going between hotels - we don't know until we get there. So I could just be going downstairs from my room. Or it could be a 10 minute walk. I guess I can just wear my coat if I am walking outside but was hoping to only take a light mac/ trench and might look odd. I'd much rather the evenings were free...I hate "networking"

A teddy coat/jacket?

I have a couple of smart evening coats for such occasions. Plain black velvet doesn’t date and although I only wear once in a blue moon it’s a useful thing to have in the wardrobe. Bought mine in sales.

Short faux fur jacket?

If its a work trip, then I'd just take a black pashmina tbh, then its not wasted luggage if I don't need it and can wear it as a scarf

A leather jacket. There are very few outfits that a leather jacket doesn't work with.

I have a grey velvet biker jacket I bought for such occasions. It doesn’t “go” with my posh frocks as such, but it’s it dressy enough to stand alone, and neutral enough not to clash.

I agree a velvet coat or a bike jacket would work.

. I really want something like fur or velvet now but I've got my leather biker as an option too and wouldn't have considered it. Thank you wonderful people

I have a white fake fur lovely soft jacket - think denim jacket length.

It looks amazing and is perfect for when its a bit nippy

What colour of fur shrug/ coat do you think. I've one black, 1 navy and one green dress. Three meals needing three dresses. Also need to find a good pair heels to wear. Oh and what tights? Nude?

Pale coloured faux fur would look nice with all 3- I'm not a fan of pure white but have a nice minky coloured one, also a lovely vintage cream one.
