I have bought two pairs of Lucy and Yak jeans, and have the physique of Humpty Dumpty. Style me please!

I don't normally wear jeans but need something a bit more hardwearing, and the other pair coming were in the sale (and returns are free.) I bought these and also some of these which are more sensible.

I have slimmish legs but wine lockdown and Covid stress has resulted in my problem middle becoming even more of a problem. I also have barely any waist, but I do have a nice busom!

Help!!

with jeans that shape you need a tight fitted top otherwise you are going to look big all over. I would only wear those type of jeans in the spring // summer with trainers or sandals and a vest but I guess a tight fitted jumper would work too to balance out the wide leg !

LivingDeadGirlUK · 12/12/2021 08:41

Agree they need a fitted top, maybe a nice fitted turtle neck jumper for the winter and ankle boots so you can still roll them up without chilly ankles.

Bagelsandbrie · 12/12/2021 08:59

I’m going to completely disagree with the first two replies….! I would go for an oversized sweat shirt - almost like the ones that they sell on the same website- and wear some white / chunky ankle boots with the jeans rolled up. It’s too cold for fitted tops, and the oversized everything look is really fashionable.

PaleGreenGhost · 12/12/2021 09:02

Oh wow those patterned ones are stunning op! I'd be interested to know if you find them true to size as I find the sizing a little bit all over at L&Y? They are recommending I buy one style in a 16, but in another style I have I've just had to exchange a medium for a small!

I'd wear them with a slim wool roll neck from uniqlo. They're so effective at keeping me warm I don't always need a t-shirt under.

JemimaPyjamas · 12/12/2021 09:25

Thanks for the replies. I'm afraid that if I wore something fitted I would feel VERY self conscious! I hope @Bagelsandbrie 's theory works, maybe an oversized but thin fabric soft shirt...?

@PaleGreenGhost I have only bought a pair of dungaree's before and had to exchange for a smaller size. I am not a good judge though as I always tend to veer towards baggy rather than anything potentially fitted. I am, I think, a size 16ish (although sizes can often be semi meaningless) but, after measuring my waist, have had to go, ahem, rather bigger for the two trousers. We shall see how it works out!

I love Lucy & Yak jeans but only wear them with a fitted top - oversized everything is fashionable yes but if you're not tall and slim it can be very unflattering and just makes you look big all over. Having said that, those jeans aren't too baggy and with the rolled up bottoms you might be able to get away with a bigger jumper as long as it's not too bulky - I'd go for something slouchy in a loose knit.

Branleuse · 12/12/2021 10:01

Id wear a slim fitting jersey body and a cropped jumper

RampantIvy · 12/12/2021 10:08

DD is a massive Lucy and Yak fan. They are cut for women with hips and a waist, which is how DD is built, and their jeans and trousers are a good fit on her. Is the hip part very baggy on you?

I agree that a fitted top would look best.

I love the denim jeans BTW.

JemimaPyjamas · 12/12/2021 10:22

Not got them yet, I only ordered yesterday!

Yes ! Oversized top and bottom will be very unflattering but go for it if you like it !

BusterGonad · 12/12/2021 12:48

I think the jeans won't flatter your figure op, if you have a bit of a tummy and no waist won't they make you look that size all way down to your feet? I think you'd be better off with a slimmer leg, or a boot cut to give you more shape, but I agree, a tighter top to give you more shape, you need to create a waist otherwise you make look bigger than you actually are.

What about a short 100 Stars kimono with the navy pair?

Worn over a fine knit polo or long sleeved T- shirt?

Argh! I don't know any more! I've been living in bloody joggers for so long that I think I've forgotten how to dress properly!

Oh, I like those kimono's! They look cool and also like they'll be good for disguising. Thank you!

I’m with @Bagelsandbrie and would go for a sweatshirt. Cropped jumpers look good with that shape of trousers too but I don’t think they’d work with a bigger middle (I also have one due to lockdown and wine 😩).

JemimaPyjamas · 13/12/2021 14:07

It could work as long as it’s not too cropped, I think.

These are beautiful!

I have an update on the jeans situation now the Lucy and Yak jeans are here.

They come up to my nipples if not rolled up, and I have at least 6 inches spare at the waistline. Also, the legs are so baggy I can fit one and a half of mine in each, minimum.

I have subsequently bought some from FatFace... (size 14, and roomy...)
