Pachamama knits?

EleonorBronte · 11/12/2021 13:32

Have recently discovered their website, not usually a fan of pattern but love the look of some knits. I notice a lot of their stuff, handmade in Nepal is also on the Plumo website and a LOT more expensive!

There are some cozy looking socks and hats, too.

Anyone have knowledge? Looks ethical and unique. Not bad pricing either. Thoughts?

I've had a couple of hats from there. I like the fleece lining, it makes them a little tighter so they don't blow off when hill walking.

I have a beanie hat from Pachamama. Very good quality and incredibly warm with a fleece lining but not very generous sizing. I've got quite a small head but it doesn't quite cover my ears!

Ah thank you.
I dont like tight hats, i dont want to make my hair flat. I usually use slouchy ones but cant find any i like.
I love the look of the site though, some beautiful knits at good prices.

I love their jumpers, I've had 2 over a 20 year period (wore the first one out) - this style but in plain blue with a cable stitch fish motif plus I've got a big heavy wool cardigan of theirs which I use more like a jacket. Gorgeously warm and cosy.

Thanks for that link OP! There is a jumper (grey with rainbow stripes through) which I saw on a site about 4 months ago. For some reason I thought it was Finistere, but when I came to look and purchase it wasn't. It's on here so thanks .

OMG, they’ve been around for decades!!!! Back in the 1990s no self respecting undergraduate was seen without one of their enormous, heavy, itchy jumper!

BillyAndTheSillies · 11/12/2021 23:17

I was thinking the same thing about them being around forever! They used to be based in the same building my Dad worked in and every Christmas and birthday present for years was a pachamama hat or jumper and he's been wfh for 15 years now!

My mum still wears her navy blue pachamama jumper and it must be 20 years old.

I have two cardigans I bought in the mid nineties. They are still going!

ShowOfHands · 12/12/2021 01:40

They were a huge staple of a leftie liberal wardrobe in the 90s. Most people I associated with had an oversized heavy knit, usually with a fish or a heart or a rainbow somewhere upon it.

I have had my favourite pachamama cardigans for over 20yrs and also have socks and hats and gloves which have stood the test of time. I have a wool, fleece lined hat which I wear for running which stays put and keeps my ear buds in place brilliantly.

I bet I'm the same age as your mum! (anarchist left rather than lefty liberal though - they're politically broad spectrum left jumpers I reckon Grin )
