'Nice make up' for Mum

My mum (in her 70s) has asked for some 'nice make up' for Christmas. She doesn't tend to wear a lot of make up and is a bit clueless about it really. I'm pretty clueless too beyond what works for me.
Could anyone with a bit more know how than me recommend what I should be looking at? Neutral shades and textures suitable for mature skin. She doesn't really like to wear foundation. She's quite fair, bluey grey eyes and her hair is silvery grey.
Budget up to around £150. Would prefer to buy a handful of 'key' products for that rather than lots of cheaper ones.

Here are two Lisa Eldridge videos with older women as models. She lists all the products that she uses and might give you some ideas.

My mum is similar age and colouring to your mum. She doesn't wear much make up but when she does she likes Clarins, Lancome and Clinique. Pinkish nude, sheer lipstick, charcoal grey eyeliner, mascara. But £150 is a lot for someone who doesn't wear a lot of make up. If it were me, I think I'd get her one or two really luxurious looking things like a Chanel lipstick and mascara and then spend the rest on something else you know she'll like. Perhaps her favourite perfume or some nice bath oil?

“Look Fabulous Forever” is a makeup range aimed at mature skin. Not used it myself but they get good reviews

This would be a nice gift to receive m.esteelauder.co.uk/?gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItt2J6ffX9AIVGdnVCh3T1gJAEAAYASAAEgJx9vD_BwE

Bobbi brown makeup is pretty timeless and neutral

My DM is this age and she's worn make up every day of her life. She loves Clinique Even Better foundation and their mascara. She prefers a cream blush. She's always had normal skin so doesn't wear powder or need concealer. She likes to look put together and always wears quite a bright lipstick which really suits her probably also Clinique. She used to wear Lancôme when I was much younger.

JustLikea · 10/12/2021 01:43

Obviously your DM will have to choose it for herself and try it out because you need the exact right shades to look good not a random lipstick that just won't suit her colouring.

Trinny London gets quite a good write up for mature skin. They have a match to me thing online.

How about hourglass? The ambient light finishing powders are really lovely.

Thanks so much everyone! Loads of good ideas to think about here - you've all been a real help 🙂

Could you perhaps book her a consultation at one of the department store counters? Of the ones above I’d maybe suggest Bobbi Brown. They do proper “make over” apppintments.

SmolCat · 10/12/2021 21:50

If she’s like that then she might also like getting her colours done (for clothes etc)? Mine was a gift so I don’t know how to book it etc but I really enjoyed it and part of the consultation was about makeup.
