Not my area of expertise but can anyone recommend one that won’t whip her lashes out or leave her scarred for life 😉. They look like instruments of torture to me! Thanks!

Boots own brand ones are excellent

JustLikea · 09/12/2021 20:55

Make sure she uses them before applying mascara

Shu uerma (I can't spell but Google it) gentle, super effective, no pinched lashes. I've had mine 10 years

Ah thanks both of you for replying. I’ll pick one of those up for her and mascara afterwards noted!

Best one is Kevyn Aucoin. I found the Shu Umera ones not completely shaped for my eyes.
It's about £17 but will last!

Thanks @NumaNumaYay, will add it to my list! She will end up with a selection at this rate!

I second the Shu Uemura - but like pp has mentioned, may not fit along her eyelash line properly due to shape.

Whichever you give her, stress the importance of checking the rubber piece in it regularly! If it’s split (can be hard to tell sometimes) then she’ll basically be guillotine-ing her lashes off in one clean slice! A good brand’s rubbery part will last longer without splitting, but I would perhaps buy a pack of refills to go with the curler.

I like I’ve body shop one.

For years I used to clamp the eyelash curlers on my eye lash and count to 30 let go and apply my mascara - 2 layers

But then I watched Lisa Eldridge use an eye lash curler and she clamped the eyelash with the curler but pumped it open and closed in sort of 2 second intervals a few times so now I sometimes do that to esp if I'm quite close to the lid.

It doesn't really make much difference tbh

Also if she does apply mascara before using the curlers they can pull out the lashes

Best mascara remover is Nivea double effects. Apply to cotton pad then hold for a few seconds on eyelash instead of rubbing it immediately as it's gentler at removing it. I also learnt this from the Lisa Eldridge video.

I started using mine age 14 and have pretty much used them every day since. I'm 51 now.

My DD 14 uses hers everyday too.
