i have bought myself a mini alexa. i love it but haven't used it yet. to keep or not to keep?! it's in chestnut.
Does anyone have this bag and find it's ok for everyday use?

Not to keep, mulberry is dated IMO and overrated for the money it costs

madamecake · 06/12/2021 22:44

I bought a black regular alexa recently, absolutely love it.

Obviously a bit bigger than the mini but a perfect everyday bag, can fit loads inside too (I can fit in a water bottle, iPad, notepad, purse).

If you love it, keep it and use it!

YouDoRunRunRun · 06/12/2021 22:58

I thought this was was an Echo Dot with Mulberry design....

Think I should go to sleep

LizzieMacQueen · 06/12/2021 23:02

I haven't got one but just try it for weight, Mulberry make heavy bags.

Wrap it and it's your xmas present.

I had one and lifting the flap to get in, and buckles flailing, was too annoying. Possibly just me with that problem! I avoid that kind of satchel design now.

I have one in oak. It's my usual everyday bag.

I really like it and don't find the flaps annoying. It's just the right size for my everyday stuff.

If I am travelling for work (the only time I need something bigger) I have the bayswater tote as my stupidly big laptop won't fit in the others.

I wfh, so my equipment is mainly at home. Not sure I would have got the mini if I also had to carry a laptop bag around with me and the mini. I would have stuck with the tote.

sparklytriceratops · 07/12/2021 06:29

I would get rid. Mulberry's quality has taken a sharp decline and is only really bought by the 'look at how much money I've spent' types.

If you want better quality, less flashy bags then take a look at brands like Strathberry, Aspinal of London etc

sparklytriceratops · 07/12/2021 06:40

On reflection, that was a pretty nasty comment I made. I do stand by the fact their quality has declined though and you can get better for less money.

If you're not sure OP, then return it.

I have the regular size in Green and I love it, I have a liner inside which helps keep the shape. I can get everything I need inside and like the fact I can use the shoulder strap when I'm opening/closing it.

I have had it about a month and I'm very pleased with it ( I know Mulberry isn't everyones taste )

I love the look of the mini size but for me it was too small especially if a liner was used but it would depend on what you wanted to use it for and how much you carried.

I was in John Lewis and the sale assistant was showing me how much you can get into the mini size, you can fit a small Ipad/kindle etc but have to unclip the straps at the sides which to me spoilt the look a little.

Have you compared the mini the the regular size?

I felt I would get much more use from the regular than mini, if I wanted a smaller bag for evenings etc I would look at the Lily but I think bag size etc is very much personal choice

Missushbb · 07/12/2021 11:09

see i did love it but have been put off a bit by the "outdated" comments on mumsnet! 😂. i think the quality is lovely, really soft. i do like it and i suppose that's the main thing!!

i like the look of the bayswater tote. quite like the option to chuck everything in! but working from home at the moment so the mini alexa is a good size really for what i need in an everyday bag.

You'll get a lot of jealous cattiness on here re. Mulberry, LV etc. Mulberry products are timeless classics and the quality and customer service are still excellent.
Ignore the green eyed monsters and keep your gorgeous new bag.

Mercurial123 · 07/12/2021 17:35

I wouldn't listen to comments on MN they are irrelevant. If you love it keep it. A satchel is a classic shape.

If this is directed at my comment, I can assure you it's far from coming from a place of jealousy. Mulberry bags are well within my reach thank you- I just think OP should be advised there are better quality, better value bags out there.

Your comment comes across as a tad defensive.

slipperyeel · 07/12/2021 21:52

You said you love it, keep it.
The Alexa is a classic IMO, not dated.
