Eye make up please; wedding guest

I’m off to a wedding at the weekend and feel I need to make a bit more than the
Usual effort with make up.
In my 60’s, medium brown hair, blue eyes, decent eyebrows as have never plucked them.normal routine for eyes is a soft brow pencil and mascara. I would like to use some shadow and liner but have no idea where to start.
Can anyone recommend a tutorial? There are so many I cant find anything appropriate. I just want a soft look but a bit more ‘done’ than usual.
Thank you!

Thank you; that’s lovely.
Does anyone have a suggestion where the model does their own eyes? I’m not very skilled!

Have a bit of a practice, and go with what you feel comfortable with. Less is more

I'd go with something like a brownish eye-liner, mascara and eyeshadow
and not bother with anything sparkly, and maybe use a bronzer or blusher to blend, rather than buy lots of products

Nothing sparkly and neutral shades on eyes
Shiney, not glossy or matte lips

Tightline the upper lid (under the lashes)

KirstenBlest · 07/12/2021 10:47

I wouldn't tightline because if you slip a bloodshot eye is not a good look

RedHot22 · 07/12/2021 11:13

I’ve been tightlining for years and never slipped and had a bloodshot eye! Confused

KirstenBlest · 07/12/2021 11:34

You are probably not in your 60s and new to eye makeup though @RedHot22

😄
Thanks all! I will do a bit of shopping.
With blue eyes, would you go browny/grey shadow, not blue?

I have blue eyes and usually opt for a taupey or greyish brown.
Brown mascara is usually kinder, as are more natural colours for lips

As pp, avoid sparkly or shiny.
Blue is more likely to look wrong if inexpertly applied
I usually blend with a bit of bronzer or blusher

If you go to a make-up counter they will advise
Don't take their advice if their own make up is weird
Don't be bullied into buying stuff you won't use
Ask for samples if you are not sure

If your budget is spendy try Clarins or similar, if it's more like mine try Boots No 7. The lady at my local counter is great

If you are wearing lipstick, one with a sheen is less ageing than matt
but there are lasting lipstains that you can use

For day to day, I use a lip pencil over my lips then lip balm then top up with tinted lipbalm during the day.

Good luck!

You can use a creamy eyeshadow stick they are so easy to use. You just paint it on and even it out with your finger. A nice light colour is lovely on blue eyes. Look at Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Trish Mcvoy, Charlotte Tilbury.

@KirstenBlest
I followed the first tutorial with a palette of the perfect three shades from No7; very reasonable price . I was really happy with the results, thank you!
