Help! Thick body cream/butter recommendations

My SIL would like a thick body cream for Christmas, she prefers things with a light/minimal scent eg cocoa butter rather than soap and glory. She doesn’t like rose scents.

Any recommendations for something that will make a nice gift?

I've always found that Body Shop body butters are really nice and thick and was actually given a cocoa butter one last Christmas as part of a gift set. Smelt lovely too!

Would she be ok with Body Shop or be wanting something from a different (more luxury?) range? Sorry, not ever so helpful!

L'Occitane shea butter body cream. Not too heavily scented, really lovely.

L'Occitane Amande body butter. I bought it because the rest of the range smells strongly of almond and I love the smell. The smell of the butter was very weak, though pleasant enough. I was bitterly disappointed and will not buy it again, but the quality of the butter itself was glorious.

I like Sanctuary Mande Lular and have used it for years - the (not at all flowery) fragrance is really lovely and not too strong although it's definitely there. It's often on 3 for 2 in Boots Smile.

Beauty Pie’s Super Healthy Skin Body Butter. It is amazing!!

Rituals Body Creams come in lovely pots and are refillable. Great creams and slightly cheaper than Body Shop butters.

Sol de Janeiro bum bum cream, odd name and it’s £££££ but for a treat it might be doable?! Has the exact cocoa butter scent you’re looking for and incredible consitency, I love the body shop butters too but this one is more custardy in texture so spreads more easily. It’s thick and rich and very moisturising. I ask for it for whenever anyone is willing to spring for a bit of a big treat!

L’Occitane Shea butter body cream is exactly what you’re looking for. Minimal fragrance, creamy rich texture which hydrated and absorbs well. Tge 25% formula, not the whipped 5% which is more of a mousse.

Liz Earle?

I like the Body Shop body butters but they're quite expensive. Although often on special offer.

There are cheaper versions in M&S, Superdrug etc but they never seem as nice as the Body Shop ones.

’Sol de Janeiro bum bum cream, odd name and it’s £££££ but for a treat it might be doable?!’

I really like it but the scent definitely isn’t ‘light/minimal’.

I love body shop body butters. The coconut one is amazing. Also like their Spas of the World body butters

Mysterylovingboy · 06/12/2021 19:37

The Neal's Yard body butters are lovely and rich and have a nice subtle smell. Tends to be quite herby though, and some people don't like that.

Thanks for all the responses, lots of you saying L’occitane and body shop so I’ll go check them out. Thanks!

L’Occitane almond range is lovely.
I’ve just started using MooGoo which is fantastic. No perfume quite thick and does a brilliant job.

Body Shop Shea Butter, the smell is divine and it's so rich.
