Restringing a Links Sweetie bracelet

My Sweetie bracelet has just snapped. Has anyone tried a DIY restring? How did it work out?
Failing that, any other recommendations ?

You used to be able to get it done at Links till they went bust, another jeweler quoted me a ridiculous price so I did it myself. Bought some jewelery elastic and practiced tying the knot a lot before I did it, then heated it slightly to melt the knot and seal.

Thanks - good tip about the knot. Was there any special elastic you used or was it a bog-standard one? The bracelet and its charms have huge sentimental value so I'd hate for it to pop randomly.

I think all links sweetie bracelets will pop in time - my very first one has decided to burst just at the slightest touch as the elastic has disintegrated with age. My others are on their way out too. Thank you for the idea of trying myself!
