For that budget I guess somewhere like Coach or Kate Spade would have lots of options. Or check Vestiare Collective for a pre-loved higher end brand, although they might still be more than £300.

For work bags, aspinal are fab. If you can stretch slightly, Mulberry are classic bags and good quality

Coach. Not Radley. Try TK Maxx. They often have designers. My Coach bag came from there and cost 149 for a 599 bag.
