Too matte all day lipstick - what to do ?

I am an idiot -again !
I vowed not to buy shoes, boots, make up or scent online.
I vowed not to fall for great reviews from beauty journalists.

I saw a great review from Sali Hughes on Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks.
So I bought a few online. Black Friday and all that. They were reduced in price. Happy Days.
Sali wasn't wrong.
They do last. And last.
But my ! They are matte. She said they weren't. But there are two formulations. Matte and Shimmer. I bought the matte ones.
If you want a matte, stay all day and night and next day lipstick this is for you.
Not me, sadly
And they do feel a little dry.
What can I do to lose a little of the matte without using a sticky lipgloss ?

I personally wouldn't trust Sali. Her Guardian reviews read like an extension of her Instagram influencing career.

Maybe try a lip balm before putting lipstick on?

I use the Maybelline equivalent. Once in a flood my lips might feel a bit dry so I'll just smear a tiny bit of Vaseline or balm on them.

Sali was right. They do stay all day.
But for me the matte is too matte.
I should have bought the shimmer ones. I hadn't realised they existed.

Lip oil, not as shiny as gloss but a nicer texture than balm.

I just whack some lip balm over the top if my lips are too Matt (I'm not a fan - I find Matt lipsticks very drying...but I've still ending up buying some )

Lisa Eldrige matt lipsticks are not drying.
