Daith piercing - ring or barbell?

I'm going for it , I've been promising myself a piercing for an age now but I'm having ot done next week.

I fancied a double ended curved bar with a gemstone end ( either both or other end a plain ball) in titanium.

But looking online most of the daith jewellery is hoop style .

I don;t use earphones or AirPods but I do wear a mask daily at work .

What's best fpr a new piercing that I;ll be wearing for months ?

I have recently had my daith pierced and I have a hoop. I have other piercings like industrial and tragus and find the hoops or rounded ended jewellery easier to sleep in whilst they heal. Plus some jewellery with sticky out bits does tend to catch in your hair etc. I would go for a hoop for now and then you can find some lovely other pieces quite cheap on amazon once it's healed! I love mine! Xx

Ah , makes good sense .
Is there any danger of the hoop coming undone ?
I know the golden rule is LITHA but I've had some lobe sleepers that have moved without me fiddling with them and I've nearly lost them .

A tiny hoop does sound ideal - and it won't be me trying to wrestke it into place Wink

The one I have in atm is a larger ring (just while it settles) the ball is pinched quite tightly in place so even my vigorous cleaning hasn't moved it yet!! 😂😂 Hope it all goes well for you! It's a really pretty piercing and great for migraines and anxiety too! Xx

I have my daith, it’s taking ages to heel but I can’t wait to have a hoop!

I had mine done in the Summer and it’s a tad uncomfortable to wear a mask with it as the string pulls on the ear near the piercing. But could be just my stupid pixie ears.

I absolutely adore it though and I’m getting my helix done next Grin

Also had to swap sides in bed with DH as it affected my sleep (and still does)

I have a daith, I’ve had the same ring in since I had it pierced about 4 years ago. It took about 8 months to heal fully, less than my upper helix. I could sleep on it from a week or so after it was pierced- again, much sooner than my upper helix.
I love it, definitely my favourite piercing.

I started out with the standard hoop which was quite big. But swapped it out after a year for a smaller one with a little gem. Would love to be able to swap it out for something more trendy and pretty but the trusted piercing studios seem to only have the standard stuff. Whatever you decide bear in mind the daith can take a long time to heal so something you won’t get bored of?

I manage to use in ear earphones fine, now that it’s fully healed I can flip it out of the way.

Recommend Prontolind spray on Amazon to help with the healing too OP, daith healing has to be one of the trickiest.

I've had a heart in mine since I got it done, weirdly I think it's the quickest to heal piercing that I've ever had.

Inquisitivearchitect · 05/12/2021 08:48

I can’t believe I spelt heal wrong in my PP! Blush

Oooh I didn’t know the helix had similar healing issues - I don’t think I’ll get it done then!

For those who have had a bar, stud and hoop in their daith - which is the most comfortable for sleeping?

Vulcanodon · 06/12/2021 13:52

Make sure it’s a curved barbell if you go for that option!
I’ve had mine done for a year, still healing! But the hoop I had it pierced with was too small (diameter not gauge), and it was made of coated titanium which it turned out I was allergic to. It’s been much better since I had a larger gold hoop put in it. It’s my favourite piercing despite all the issues I’ve had.

Did any of you get it done for migraines, and did it work?!

Inquisitivearchitect · 11/12/2021 10:26

@moaningturtle I did! And I felt immediate relief but then it may have been a placebo as I’ve been having awful migraines again!

Botox on the other hand! Amazing! Wish I could afford it again

Ooh so I'm a couple of months down the line with this , I'm fine to sleep on that side and (touch wood )it's healing uneventfully

No plans to change it for months though .
Weirdly , even though I don't touch it (only spray with the saline and dab) I noticed the hoop does move , the black crystal can go from the top to the bottom of the daith cartilidge within a few days !
