Long face - what hair?

I have a (very) long face, also quite rectangular. My hair is currently about 4 inches below my shoulders and just kind of 'there'. I feel like the length makes my face look even longer but no idea what I should do with it.

Would a fringe help? I have quite harsh features and need my hair to soften them so don't want to go too short. I also don't want anything that requires lots of styling.

Will see if I can find a photo without outing myself...

I have similar issues. I look best with a heavy fringe, longer at the sides. Like these. You do need quite a bit of hair though because you’re cutting a lot into your fringe. I wear a weave to compensate

Thanks for the ideas, I like those, third one especially. Worried about volume though - I used to have a lot of hair but it seems to be reducing as I age. Not sure I could deal with a weave, I barely manage to blow dry.

My hair has also gone from dead straight to slightly wavy recently. But that's probably a positive as I am drawn to those slightly messy, choppy, layered cuts which the wave helps with.
