Bra for 12 yr old

Hi my DD is 12 and I've just bought some 30D bras which are too small in the cups. The band seems fine. I'm assuming that she shouldn't have underwired bras, where would you buy a simple style 30DD/E bra?

Have you measured for an idea of size?
Under bust measurement = back size
Cup size = over bust measurement minus the under bust measurement. Each inch difference increases the cup size. A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF, G, etc

dementedpixie · 04/12/2021 14:12

M&S have got non underwired bras in that size.

Jackieweaverishere · 04/12/2021 16:19

28DD (28 and 33in) I'm not sure those 'first bras' at M&S give a lot of support but it's worth a try.

28DD has same cup volume as 30D so maybe need to try bigger cup. It can be hard to find 28 back bras so maybe stick to the 30 back but try a bigger cup

Jackieweaverishere · 04/12/2021 16:25

They only have sports bras at m&s in 28dd kids bras, does anyone have any other recommendations?

John Lewis - if properly fitted no reason not to have underwire. Quite a lot of choice once you get to DD, it harder for 28B/C.

Or something like this also works:

Jackieweaverishere · 04/12/2021 16:31

@dementedpixie thanks I'll try that, it's a bit overwhelming looking at £30 pushup / plunge bras for my 12 yr old daughter!! I'll try looking for a 30E

M&S regular selection. Quite plain and inoffensive.

EllieSattler · 04/12/2021 16:32

Oh sorry no they don't go down to a 28.

Which is daft because I am very fat and only wear a 34 band.

PrincessNutNuts · 04/12/2021 17:01

I'm sorry @Jackieweaverishere I just realised that the one I linked to doesn't come in anything like a full range of sizes. Sad

Jackieweaverishere · 04/12/2021 17:22

No worries @PrincessNutNuts thanks for trying!

Try Boux Avenue

StarlightLady · 04/12/2021 21:24

I was in underwired at around 12 and l wouldn’t necessarily dismiss it. ‘Long time ago now, and not with lots of scaffolding but it was the most comfy for me.

Jackieweaverishere · 10/12/2021 21:24

Well the 30 E didn't fit in the cup either! I might have to try an underwired one.

FiveGoldThings · 10/12/2021 21:31

If she’s dd take her to bravissimo, they will sort with the right size and no need to avoid u derwires as long as right size. In fact once you get bigger than a d cup underwires are very useful.

Jackieweaverishere · 12/12/2021 09:52

Thanks@FiveGoldThings I will do that, I had a phone call with them which was brilliant. I'm a big fan of bravissimo for myself, DD deserves the same (even though the prices are 😲 compared to kids' bras!) I've ordered one from Boux Avenue - thanks @bendmeoverbackwards

bendmeoverbackwards · 12/12/2021 13:33

That's good @Jackieweaverishere my dds liked Boux Avenue at that age.

Gwenhwyfar · 12/12/2021 13:38

Why can't she have an underwire?

shutthedamndoor · 12/12/2021 17:57

I have exactly the same issue for my daughter. We ended up going to a small independent store to get her measured, and found a couple of really nice bras from Panache called Andorra. She really likes them.

Jackieweaverishere · 12/12/2021 20:38

@Gwenhwyfar I just thought it wasn't recommended. She will probably complain it's uncomfortable but it's worth a try...

I scoot about in George bras. Wired lacy T-shirt bras. Comfy as anything - well until I walk back inside my front door at least 😉 It’s off within the hour once I’m home.

Jackieweaverishere · 12/12/2021 20:46

@shutthedamndoor thanks I've just ordered one, they're probably a bit frilly for DD but I'm running out of options!

OP posts:
shutthedamndoor · 12/12/2021 20:48

They're not quite as frilly as they appear, hope your daughter likes them!
