What shoes for this dress?

DH has a work Xmas party coming up at a pretty fancy location.
I am NOT fancy Grin

I've bought a dress (attached) which I love. I do not look quite this good in it - I'm size 14 & will be 4 months pregnant by the event. Its v figure hugging and shows its definitely a bump, not bloat, which is great.

I'm really stuck on shoes. I'm appalling at walking in heels. Can I wear a flat shoe? Or a heeled boot? A low wedge of some sort? Suggested shoes very very welcome!

I'm a bit alternative (dip dyed purple hair etc) so normally I'd chuck on DMs and a leather jacket but not at this venue.

DH will be wearing a full suit & tie. I don't want to look silly (with the wrong shoes or by falling on my arse).

Love the dress. I couldn't wear it though as need a bra! I'd go either a nude, silver or bright low wedge, court shoe or kitten heel. Depending on skin tone, a nude shoe will elongate the leg. If you want colour, you could go red or something bright. A black with some sparkle wouldn't go amiss for a Christmas party either. Irregular choice are great for a quirky look. I hope you have a pashmina, bolero or jacket though as it might be very cold!

I've ordered a strapless bra (I've gone up to a 32H...), luckily the material is also quite supportive so hopefully with both everything will stay in place Grin

Irregular choice are great but I think it's more a primark/new look budget at the moment (dress was an ebay bargain!). Good suggestions on potential shoe types, the only pair I have that are the right shape & height are navy so I'll have to go shopping.

A wrap of some sort is a good idea too (was just going to steal DHs jacket to and from the taxi, but not sure he'll thank me for that!)

I can't walk in heels either but these are really comfortable - www.clarks.co.uk/c/Deva-Mae/p/26133032

I've bought/sold irregular choice on ebay before, so keep an eye out for bargains! Don't forget about larger supermarkets for shoes- asda, tesco and sainsburys/argos. Their websites seem to very lean on heels! I'm not sure if they have sold out due to black friday, or awaiting stock, so maybe go in and having a look might be better. I was hoping to link some styles but can't even find any at a reasonable price!

Ooo good point about Clarks!

I actually have a pair of grey suede clarks heels that I can walk in - wore thek to a wedding years ago and totally forgot about them. Pic (stolen from the web) attached, would they work?

They're not the ideal shoe for the dress but they might work. You'll know as soon as you try them on together. It would be a bonus not to have to buy anything.

First one has small heal, others are flats. Would all look smart enough and go with the dress IMO

Perfect.

AwkwardPaws27 · 30/11/2021 16:57

Thank you!
I got the shoes for £8 Inc postage on ebay so hopefully they fit and are as described. I also got a cheap wrap for £7 in a similar colour.

I have a dark green evening bag - do you think that would be OK to match it to the dress rather than the accessories?

Yes to the green bag. You will look lovely. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Thank you all for your help

Can you tell me where the black pointed flats are from? (the ones with the bow). I bought a similar pink pair a few years back but they won't go with anything I want to wear "out out". Thanks Smile

I thought these were great, from Next. I’m hopeless in heels now too

Think I've found them on Boohoo but only in size 3

Have you tried Amazon? If you type low heeled shoe I to the search bar a brand called Dream Pairs will appear in the results. Lots of nice shoes x
