Uniqlo in store refund policy

I went to request a refund at a Uniqlo store yesterday and they refused and said I had to take it back to the branch I bought it from, which I found very odd and quite poor customer service and has put me off buying from them. I rarely buy from there anyway as nothing seems to fit quite right.

It does state this in their returns policy though.

I trawled through their info online and they do seem to state it in their T&Cs but it is a strange policy

We can only accept returns or exchanges for items purchased in-store in the UK.Please note, returns can only be done at the store where the purchase was originally made.Exchanges can be processed at any UNIQLO UK store

It does say on the receipt but it’s so unusual I didn’t notice!
