Hot brush recommendations

My daughter has long hair that does frizz. We keep it under control and she uses straighteners.
Just wondering about a hot brush for her for Christmas? Looked at the GHD and Babyliss one’s so far.

Don’t want to spend ££ if she’s not going to use it but would be nice to get her a surprise.

I have the Ghd Glide. I really like it, I think they’re on offer at the minute too. Have a look at some of the YouTube videos.

I’ve heard some really good things about the Babyliss Air Styler. I’m considering getting myself one soon.

Shallysally · 27/11/2021 15:44

Thanks both.

Had a look at the Babyliss Air, she wouldn’t use the hair dryer attachment, thanks though @Lipsandlashes

@RogerThatBravoOne, does it get your hair poker straight? Or will it be better for in between days? Thank you!

I have the GHD Glide and love it. My hair is quite fine, bra strap length and it gives it some body and styles it well on the days I cba washing - in fact I've had more compliments about my hair when I use this and a dry shampoo, than i have on the days it's clean and blowdried!

I have the Revlon one step which is cheap. I prefer it now to my Babyliss

Lookingoutside · 27/11/2021 18:50

The Revlon One Step is very good. I haven’t had my Dustin Airwrap out of the box since I got mine.

It’s half price on Amazon at the moment so £29.99 instead of £59.99.

Ithinkimalonenow24 · 27/11/2021 18:58

I also recommend the Revlon One Step the original will be ok, I have the newer one that's a smaller barrel for short to medium, I have a shoulder length Bob and it made me love my hair again. No more fizz, can dry my hair 10 mins and it's looks proper blow-dried

Shallysally · 27/11/2021 20:29

So does the Revlon one step straighten too please? Can it be used just as a hot brush?

It straightens and curls. It’s a more voluminous straight than if you used GHD straighteners but looks more natural. I think ironed straight hair can look a bit wiggy.

To curl you just pull the brush through your hair vertically and make sure you rotate it at the roots.

RogerThatBravoOne · 27/11/2021 21:50

When I use the glide I tend to straighten it more bouncy and curl under a bit at the bottom, but I’ve also done it really straight and smooth too.
My hair isn’t as flat to my head as when I straighten it

Shallysally · 27/11/2021 22:31

Thanks all! I’m leaning towards the GHD one, she knows what she likes and I don’t feel there is much point in getting her a gadget that she won’t get the use out of.

She definitely won’t dry her hair with any form of drier. She washes it on an evening then plaits it and straightens it the next morning, if she has the time!

Sorry to barge in... What's the difference between a Revlon One Step and a Babyliss Big Hair please?

Lookingoutside · 27/11/2021 23:30

The Revlon One Step is a large ceramic barrel brush which blows hot air.

The Babyliss Big Hair has a smaller brush which blows hot air and spins.

Both mimic a salon blow dry but I find the Revlon One Step quicker and more effective in terms of getting my hair completely dry and the style lasting.

GuybrushT · 28/11/2021 08:42

I have the Aevo brush and really like it, use it on both my shorter hair and DD's long hair.

I didn't realise the Revlon didn't have a rotating brush, thanks for explaining.

No worries @DaisyNGO

Hope you find one you like.
