Christmas Night Out Outfit - Plus Sized

PanettoneSeason · 26/11/2021 17:47

I’m in need of inspiration! Has anyone seen anything nice? Had my first DC last year, I feel like nothing that I have already fits me properly anymore and I just need something to make me feel nice! I’m size 18/20 with large chest.

It’s a dinner with colleagues in quite a trendy restaurant then on to a nice cocktail bar for drinks. Dressy trousers/top/heels combination or a dress and heels would be fine 😊 bonus points if its a top/dress that skims over the belly and if it’s a dress that looks good with black tights!

Anyone want to help me shop? 🤞🏼

Oh, and I’m 32 if that makes any difference 😊

What is your budget? Any colours you like or to avoid?

PanettoneSeason · 26/11/2021 18:12

Forgot about budget - maybe £100-150 maximum. Can go to more if I need to buy shoes. Have a fairly good selection of heels - some black, silver, gold, nude, navy so hopefully I’ll have something already in shoes.

I hate purple in all shades 🤣 that’s really my only colour issue.

I have mid brown hair and I’m neither tanned nor overly pale - pretty average really 🤣

Try Karen milllen curve, bombshell if you can stretch the budget (I can’t but other people rave about it) or asos curve.

Love this but I’m not tall enough for jumpsuits

PanettoneSeason · 26/11/2021 18:40

@Kjr33 Definitely too dressy 😊 I can’t see the jumpsuit - I think it’s the same link twice but I’m also too short for jumpsuits so I feel your pain lol. I’ll have a look at those brands though 😊 ASOS is usually my go-to but nothing is jumping out at me!

Kjr33 · 26/11/2021 18:50

Yeah I’ve been similar with asos recently too…. Sadly I think it’s becoming too young for me (obviously not the other way round)

Kjr33 · 26/11/2021 18:58

Sorry for the duff link, there are a couple of nice jumpsuits on there it was a black and white one I liked but if you are also too short I won’t bother finding it to re-do the link. Best of luck let us know what you choose

I have this OP. I love it with black boots or heels and statement jewellery.

PanettoneSeason · 26/11/2021 20:14

@Kjr33 It’s a shame because there’s so many lovely jumpsuits 🙈

@thinkfast That looks really nice! What’s the sizing like? I buy most of DCs stuff from there but I’ve never ordered from H&M for myself!

thinkfast · 26/11/2021 20:17

It's quite generous sizing on this item. Comes to just above the knees on me (I'm 5'8")

mumonthehill · 26/11/2021 20:19

Try H and M!! I bought a floral tie front shirt dress from them and wore it last night to a works do. Size 18 and wore it with slim black trousers from next.

PanettoneSeason · 26/11/2021 20:52

@thinkfast Fab, thanks 😊

@mumonthehill Just about to see what I can see on H&M 😊 thanks

I was going to say Marks and Spencer but you've got a good budget. (Please don't take the wrong way.) I've got three new size 20 dresses but they are all less than £50 each.

I'm wearing this on Christmas Eve:

I'm wearing this on Christmas Day:

I'm wearing this on Boxing Day

We're eating out over Christmas which is why I've got three new dresses.

I have brought this and it def skims over my size 24 tummy. I am really pleased with it.

Kjr33 · 27/11/2021 09:23

@ToffeeNotCoffee the first one is lovely, I always forget to look on m&s, possibly because I find the website a bit rubbish? But that dress is perfect for some things I have coming up.

PanettoneSeason · 27/11/2021 11:00

@ToffeeNotCoffee The more I can get for that money the better 😊 I actually hadn’t even thought of M&S! I’ll have a look, thanks 😊

@Sunshineandrainbow How is the quality? Last time I ordered from Evans I was pretty disappointed but I’ve had some lovely things from them before!

@sparklefarts Definitely wouldn’t feel up to wearing anything that figure hugging 😅 but I’ve seen a few nice tops on SimplyBe that I’ve ordered to try 🤞🏼 I’m thinking maybe black skinny trousers, nice top/blouse, heels and a clutch 🤞🏼 also had a few nice dresses that look great for layering with tights/boots/cardis for work in winter so I’ve grabbed them too 😊 and all 40% off!!

ToffeeNotCoffee · 28/11/2021 16:25

You're welcome. I hope you have a lovely time.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 28/11/2021 16:37

@Kjr33 you're welcome. I order from M&S online then go and collect in store. I've got a couple of sweat shirts that I ordered that way. it worked ok.

I'd forgotten all about Evans. I thought they had gone out of business. I used to practically live and die in our local branch. I'm having a good look at Evans clothing via your link.

However, end of thread de-rail. Back on topic.

@PanettoneSeason I'm now curious/over invested !

dontknowwasmadetoknow · 28/11/2021 17:15

I've got this from your clothing, it was cheap but really flattering

Iamahippo · 28/11/2021 19:13

Have you tried MANG? They do a nice plus size range

shop.mango.com/gb/women/featured/plus-sizes-dresses-and-jumpsuits_d79879152

Iamahippo · 28/11/2021 19:13

Mango that should be

PanettoneSeason · 28/11/2021 20:36

@Iamahippo I love Mango 😊 order loads of kids stuff from them too. Nothing really caught my eye at the moment though unfortunately!

@ToffeeNotCoffee Thanks 😊 it’ll actually be my first night out since before I got pregnant - and DS is now 14 months 😳 in fact - it might even be my first drink 🙈🤣 so hopefully it’ll be a good night. I’ve actually just realised that I’m working that day - so I have an hour to get completely ready and back out the door 🙈 I’ve ordered this blouse and hoping to pull of a similar casual glam “oh, I just threw this on” look to what the model is wearing (I can only dream 😅🤣). Got it 40% off too!

Also picked up this dress - got a summer wedding next year and I love the colours and the print. Never usually go for Midi length as I’m not overly tall and I think it makes me look even stumpier but I liked the colours and print so I’ll give it a try and see how it goes lol.
