Please help me find a longline cardigan/coatigan (?)

A couple of years ago in Toast there was a beautiful long line slouchy cardigan in very dark blue. It was perfect , it had pockets, it was long but also heavy wool, slouchy and wonderful. I've kicked myself a thousand times for not buying it at the time, but at the time I had other coats and it would have been surplus to requirements. Sadly a lot of my wool coats succumbed to moths this year so I'm making do with a parka and a padded thing (why is everything in the shops fecking padded?!) that I don't really love, and of course pining for the toast cardigan.

I need a heavy wool -can't stand those very thin things.
Don't mind cable knit at a push
I need pockets
I need a dark colour ideally black, very dark navy or grey
I need a size 16/18
Cost -whatever but under £200 would be ideal. Up to £300 if its perfect
Knee length (I'm 5 foot 4)
I don't want a shacket as they all seem to have breast pockets which I don't like.
I'm not mad about funnel necks either
Absolutely no waterfall fronts

Places I've looked so far:
Ebay
Marks
Toast
Fat Face
Seasalt
Boden
Asos
Hush
Wrap
Phase Eight
Mint Velvet

On the complete off chance that any of you lovely people have seen what I'm looking for on your travels, please do point me in the right direction!

Try Beibhinn.ie .It's a small little business located near to my hometown in Ireland .The do custom knits in every colour , long and with or without pockets and the finished knits are really beautiful. She also has an Instagram account called Beibhinnthelabel where you can look at all of her products. I have one of her knits and get lots of compliments

Try Woolovers, Jigsaw, both usually do one, length varies.

Also Kettlewell have a lambswool coatigan.

haha, i loved that cardi too, but knowing toast it would have made me look like a drowned rat.

i have seen only one that i like, it is more fluid, not as chunky though. It is over £200 and at Poetry, a gorgeous shawl collared long cardi with deep pockets. I just cant excuse the cost.

Here it is, i think it's lovely and cozy!

Oh, also a flecked donegal knit, like the toast one often pops up at that Irish store, i cant recall the name....might be Blarney Woollen Mills.

A few examples of them:

Have you looked at Celtic and Co? They have some there.

Just had a look -what gorgeous things. The cardigan would be great but I just don't like the slits up the side -other than that they would be a real contender. I am, however going to order a neck warmer from them so thanks for that recommendation!

That is beautiful and I really like the shawl collar. However I'm not mad on the side splits. But thank you for the heads up as I'd forgotten about Poetry as a brand and now I'm lusting after their pyjamas...

oh oh I've just seen that Bebhinn can do custom -I wonder if they can do one without the slits? The chucky cardigan is exactly what I'm looking for if so. And they can add pockets! Happy days. This is why I love Mumsnet ! Thanks @schnubbins

I have these from Celtic & Co. I have them in the navy, claret and grey. I'm 5'6" and it comes mid thigh on me and I guarantee they are thick and heavy.

FESTIVE21 will get you £20 off I think

DedalusBloom · 26/11/2021 20:14

That is lovely but I'm really coveting something knee length.

@DedalusBloom so glad that you like the cardigans and other items at Bebhinn.ie .It is a small independent shop run by a very lovely young lady. She employs knitters from the local area who do the work over their shop so anyone who buys anything would be supporting a small independent brand and receives a top quality product in return that will last for years. and 'spark lots of joy'!

lightningstrikes · 27/11/2021 18:15

I have one from Finisterre. It doesn't button, but lovely pockets, slouchy and wool!
