Please help me to choose a dress

So I have a Christmas night out with girlfriends coming up. We are staying local (so not city centre) and are going for a meal then to a few bars after. I literally cannot find a dress that I like. I am a boots and thick black tights kind of girl (boots similar to the ones I want to wear attached - appreciate these aren't to everyone's taste) so I am looking for a shorter dress mid thigh length. I am a size 12 with curves so nothing loose fitting but at the same time nothing like a body on dress either. I like more of an edgy look rather than feminine as I would want to wear with a black leather jacket. Budget not big - £50 max really. Oh and nothing bright-more black and grey tones. Please help a very lost and hopeless woman!

Thanks @goose1964 although that style of dress does nothing for me unfortunately. I need something with more shape. I just end up looking like I'm wearing a maternity dress

I got some nice dresses from topshop on ASOS

Zara have address someone posted on here called black contrast mesh dress I think, but I can't link a website is down. Fitted style with mesh, black, would look quite edgy with those boots x

Riddlediddle · 25/11/2021 21:41

Oooh @nanbread I like the sound of that. Nothing coming up on Google though Confused

Ah that's definitely more of the style I am looking for. Not keen on the mesh panelling though - not slim enough to carry that off and I think putting a vest top underneath would ruin the look

Thanks @Somebodylikeyew the green one is nice but would be too dressy for the occasion really.
God I realise just how fussy I am sounding. No wonder I'm struggling to find a dress!

Have you tried EMP. I'm a similar size and style to you and they're my go to if I'm struggling.

Riddlediddle · 25/11/2021 23:02

@notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking how bizarre I was just looking at that!!!! I couldn't work out if I loved it or it was hideous. I'm still not sure but I'm quite drawn to it

Really like this kind of style @alwayswrighty but not sure it is dressed up enough for a night out. Never heard of EMP before thanks

Try here. I like the flapper style beaded dresses

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 25/11/2021 23:22

Yes, I feel exactly the same about it. I love the shape, not sure about the flowery pattern but am strangely drawn to it too! Might have to try it on.

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 26/11/2021 13:30

I went into Zara today (which was chaos of course) and saw that dress. It was very thin material and looked like it would fall apart after a wash or two so decided against it.

Riddlediddle · 26/11/2021 13:45

Ah OK well good to know before I ordered it x
