Im moving away to a small village, more rural . I’ll need some boots that I can wear both for dog walking and shopping/ everything else. Do they even exist ?

everyone will say dubarry's so i will get it out of the way for them! Grin

me, i'd wear my docs. i only use dubarry's for serious weather stuff.
i dont like wellies, they are usually uncomfortable and only really useful for farm/mud situations.

im not a fan of fairfax and favour boots either. it's all a bit ubiquitous wealth-signalling for me.

id go for waterproof, sturdy, knee boots with a rugged yet decent sole, so that you will look stylish as well as practical.

I live in the country - but also can walk to the shops. I wear hiking shoes for walking over the fields with the dog (or flipflops, trainers in the summer). I don't usually go to the shops in the same shoes as they are usually pretty muddy. So I usually live in my leather boots - leather, lace up, ankle. The only time I wear wellies are if it has been raining for weeks and all dog walks are boggy/flooded!

I live in a rural village, close to towns for shopping etc. I wear hiking boots for dog walks. Everything else I just wear my usual shoes/ boots eg flats, nice ankle boots. It’s only the fields that get muddy etc so shoes for everything else don’t need special consideration just cos of where I live. I am guessing it would be very different if I lived somewhere very hilly or down a dirt track though. In which case I’m guessing lots of people would wear hiking boots/ wellies/ trainers for everything

There are loads of great chunky boots in the shops at the moment. Doc martens etc. I've hot a pair of timberland boots that I LOVE. So comfy, great grip and pretty waterproof. Perfect for mud.

I wear Blundstones

Dublin - I had a pair of Dubarry aeons ago (and they lasted many years) but I don't think they now have the build quality than they did of yore, and I find Dublin just as good at half the price.

I second Blundstones. Great boots.
