I don’t drive and also go on walking holidays @NoBetterthanSheShouldBe, you can only wear one coat at a time! I do also have a work blazer/suit jacket that I keep in the wardrobe though.

Thanks everyone for all the comments and advice! It's mainly my winter wardrobe(s) I have some summer clothes and dresses folded at the top of the wardrobe that has the lights on.
Day to day I seem to be ok ish it's for things like meals out and occasions I struggle with things to wear. I do think I have a kind of problem with shopping and worrying about my clothes - I gave birth 9 weeks ago and it seemed to trigger like a depression which centred about not having anything to wear? I can't explain it.
I have to store my perfume and make up in my wardrobe as I literally don't have anywhere else Sad my bedroom has no space and the other 2 bedrooms are DC's x

Some costs are in the back of the wardrobe with the lights, some are in the attic, some hung up by the front door and some on the back of DD's nursery door Sad we used to have an ottoman bed where I stored my coats but we had to get rid of it to make the room into the nursery x

No it’s not that many tbh. I never understand the MN mind set of having only a few outfits and wearing them over and over again. I’m so glad the children have moved out so I can have sole use of their wardrobes 😂

IamGusFring · 25/11/2021 23:59

I don't think it is a lot either - there was a post on here the other day about how many coats do you have . I was vaguely embarrassed to answer 😂 ....

Obviously there's a middle ground. In my opinion OP has a crazy amount of clothes. I have one wardrobe and one large cabinet for clothing. I wear 80% of my clothing on a regular basis. If you have that amount of stuff and have nothing to wear you're doing something wrong.

Monty27 · 26/11/2021 05:22

It appears to me there's much of the same. Animal print mostly.
Try and have one of everything.
I can talk. I realised once I had 9 black skirts for example. 😳😔

SalsaLove · 26/11/2021 05:33

Are you an Autumn?

Bunce1 · 26/11/2021 07:11

9 weeks post partum!?

You’re body is still transitioning, give yourself self time. Leggings and a mans shirt. Very cool and easy to feed from. Throw on an oversized knit and your hood to go!

Don’t put pressure on yourself. You’ve got a newborn.

@namechangedaily - show or tell us the room layout. I’m sure you can fit your makeup and perfume somewhere other than in your wardrobe.

I currently have a large single/small double room and also a double bedroom which I use as a spare and storage for other furniture items because it doesn’t heat well at all and also next to baby of NDNs.

In a sense it’s better for me as I’ve been forced to sort out clothes and belongings in the smaller room.

Bunce1 · 26/11/2021 19:03

My post had so many typos!! Sorry.

op I hope you come back, people are quick to be a bit to honest on these types of threads.

I recently did a wardrobe detox and it has been so great. I did sell some things on eBay and that made me feel good.

Make up- I have a small unit with drawers it’s about 45cm long, 30 high and then maybe 20cm deep. It has 5 drawers so top drawer has eye stuff, then base stuff, then cheeks and bronzer tips things then lips and then one is misc. keeps everything tidy and hidden! It’s an antique opera performers case so it looks rather pleasing.

CambsAlways · 26/11/2021 21:23

Hell no, I’ve got loads

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 26/11/2021 21:39

Our house burnt down 7 years ago.

They take everything that’s smoke damaged away to clean it. The guy who came to collect the clothes said we had as many bags (46) as he usually collected from a stately home.
They were mainly my clothes😳

The payout and buying of new ones was great!

namechangedaily · 27/11/2021 12:31

Attempt at panoramic view of room!

Is this a lot of clothes!

You seem to be choosing the same coloured tops all the time. I can't see any blue, green or red. All very beigy brown colours.

Gonnagetgoing · 27/11/2021 13:27

@namechangedaily - I’m sure you can fit makeup around your dressing table. You can get hanging sides for this. I’m just saying what I said as I couldn’t have bottles, makeup etc in my wardrobe where my clothes are, for access reasons. Actually in my main double sleigh bed I’ve got underneath storage where I put things like candles, presents for/from others if I’m not using them at the moment.

You could also (but be careful) hang necklaces and scarves either side of dressing table mirror.

@MabelFurball - but maybe OP suits those colours rather than brighter ones? I can see the odd orange/apricot/peach colour clothes.
ArabeI · 27/11/2021 14:21

Three wardrobes? Not at all! Poster on a recent-ish thread, if I remember correctly, had a whole room filled with clothes.

I have two wardrobes (though out of season coats are also stored in one) plus cupboards and drawers for knitwear, gym wear and foldable. Some in attic storage.

ArabeI · 27/11/2021 14:35

I should read the thread first!

I'd sort out into seasons (different wardrobe or attic/zip lock storage for out of season). Then hang/fold by type; skirts, dresses, tops (longest sleeves first order), blouses.

You'll be able to find what you need much more easily.

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/11/2021 15:08

You like brown w spots don’t you?!

It’s not a crazy number but it’s plenty. They are very crammed though, which must be annoying.

Put aside some sessions to pull everything out, and Google how to have a wardrobe clear out. There are probably pieces you’d wear more if you knew all the options you could wear them with, and some pieces that need to go.

thebear1 · 27/11/2021 18:00

I would leave it when you are only 9 weeks postpartum. I made some very strange purchases after having ds1. It seemed to change my taste and took a bit to settle down.
