Wraparound dress/cleavage!

Hello!

What solutions are there to the wraparound dress which is nice on my size 16 curves, but it's a bit gappy and basically exposing too much cleavage and bra! I don't mind a bit of cleavage but this is a bit much. And chilly.

Is it a vest underneath? A clip or safety pin? Or is there an actual thing I can buy?

Thanks!

I have one that used to fit but I've lost weight so my boobs fall out I've worked out where I can put a couple of stitches and still get it on and off. I also have another dress which I use a tiny brooch to keep it decent.

I just use a safety pin, I usually runch the fabric before pinning so it’s less obvious there is a pin.

Vest top tucked into tights. Warm legs, tummy and chest is covered. Win win win.

SummaLuvin · 23/11/2021 13:18

I would go with a safety pin. Or if you have the time and skill perhaps sew little poppers/buttons to fix that place, if you wear the dress a lot it will be less effort in the long run.

Personally I don't like the look of the modesty panels or vests underneath, it screams "this item doesn't fit me properly" more like a decision out of necessity rather than stylistic. It just dulls the look of a wrap dress to my eyes.

Thank you all! I expect to have punctured my boobs a few times by the weekend.

Very small vest tucked into tights. Much better than modesty panel. I find the safety pin ends up a bit stranded over the course of the day and becomes visible because of the pull across the chest.

I have modesty pins from Avon (or used safety pins before that)
Avon came in pack of 3 but I just use one of them as not keen on all thedesigns but they do the job.

Tape like this www.johnlewis.com/prym-lingerie-tape/p230472734

www.boots.com/eylure-body-tape-10088144

Can be called anything like boob, fashion, body or lingerie tape.

Safety pins pull.

A full slip underneath normally solves the problem of cleavage, gaps, leg exposure, and clinging while also adding warmth.

Alternatively a safety pin does the job if it isn't too low, if the dress is very low it ruins the line though.

Sewing on a popper is an option but can be difficult to do so it doesn't show on certain styles.

Findingthelight1 · 23/11/2021 14:14

Safety pin, or else buy a dress that fits. A vest underneath ruins the look and also - in my mind at least! - has that whole primary school teacher vibe about it. Especially if teamed with opaque tights and ballet pumps.

EnidFrighten · 23/11/2021 14:20

You can sew it up at the point where it gapes.

Mind you I have a large bust and wraparound dresses always look like I have two baby goats fighting their way out, I think over a certain curve gradient they just don't work.

Big chuckle at that!

Okay, I'll be popping it back on and assessing the way forward. I do agree that the vest might ruin it a bit, I do want the neck line. I also don't want to get arrested.

I always wear a brooch. And/or choose a matching/contrasting bra.
