Help me find an imaginary dress!

Every year I search for a lovely dress for Christmas day. Last year I was pregnant and found a nice red tartan one that I loved, but that's the closest I've ever got!

I don't know what I want, but I do at the same time. Something red, or midnight blue OR green ideally (I know, but it's Xmas and I don't care 😁), maybe sparkly but not sequinned. Not garish, just something lovely. A properly nice frock.

Whenever I search online I can never find what I want. Haven't seen much in shops either. Maybe my shopping skills are simply appalling. 😂

But, if anyone HAS seen anything vaguely fitting my specific but totally unspecific description, please can you throw some links at me! It's my first year as a Mum and I really want to look nice in photos. I know it's not hugely important in the scheme of things, but it's an extra I'd really like.

🤣 You might need to include budget and size as a minimum

True. 😁 Size 6-8, budget wise... under £100 ideally but if it was special I'd consider more for future wears. I'm 5'4 and pale, and brunette if that also helps.

I'm also a walking fashion disaster...

Ooo, thank you. That is very pretty. I'm not particularly busty (also should have included) but maybe with a good bra it could work!

I have found velvetty "nice" Christmassy dresses in the childrens sections rather than adult sections atm. Maybe just my immature taste. But M and S seemed to have quite a few. Like this one:

I generally fit age 15-16 (UK size 10-12), so you might even be 13-14. They are also cheaper than adult clothes but I would saying worth trying first as fit can be a bit hit or miss. But m and s returns policy is decent.

This one came to mind. I don't have it but the glitter is in the fabric so it doesn't shed. Also apparently not rough.

There's this as well although I'm not keen on the neckline personally.

Whistles had this on a mannekin in the window at the weekend.
Annoyingly, despite being used on the 25% off velvet ad, it doesn’t appear to be in the actual website.
But it was lovely, and green!
So if you can get to a store I’d say defo worth a look.

That's a fab idea, I've never thought of that! The colours and the texture there are exactly the type of style I was trying to (very badly) sum up. I'm absolutely going to try this, that could be a total game changer. Thank you!

@SpamIAm Oh I really like the glitter there. It's not too much but still feels extra! I agree about the second one's neckline which is a shame, as the colour is lovely. Neckline makes it feel a tad dressing gown like! That first one is really nice though.

@MaryStuart Oh I like that! That's exactly the shade of green I was thinking. We do have a Whistles nearby, so DH and DS are getting dragged there this weekend. 😁

I’m tempted by this one myself and I haven’t worn pink since I could express a preference!
The other one I like from that site is www.wearethought.com/effa-ecoverotm-midi-dress-in-red/

I think this is lovely - a tiny bit over budget but it's Black Friday next week...
