brown mascara?

How much difference does brown mascara make? Is it very noticeable? I’ve never used it and to my knowledge, I’ve never seen anyone else wearing it either.

I’m naturally blonde, fair skin and bright blue eyes. I’m considering the chocolate brown Clinique mascara for a change… mistake?

It looks softer and more natural. I use brown for every day and black for evening. Just boring old max factor 2000 calorie.

aConcernedPrude · 22/11/2021 22:38

Same as @GuyFawkesDay - I use brown during the week/at work and use black at weekends.

If you're unsure there are a couple of cheaper brands available, I like Maybelline's brown one, 'Lash Sensational' I think it's called, definitely under £10.

Scbchl · 22/11/2021 22:40

I worked in cosmetics and liked to use it on women who were really fair for day to day looks. You should ask if they have a sample they can give you to try first, most premium brands do.

NinDS · 22/11/2021 22:42

Brown is my everyday go to. Very soft and natural looking.

KimmyKimdoo · 22/11/2021 22:50

Thank you, maybe I have seen it on women before and not thought they were wearing mascara then? Hmmmm.. worth a try!

I’m pale with blue eyes and I wear Rimmel Extra Super Lash brown black mascara and a dark brown eyeliner. It just looks slightly softer and nicer on me, but it still looks really visible. You would know I was wearing mascara if you saw me. But then it is a brown black rather than a proper brown, which I think would look a bit too natural for me.

NiellyNoFive · 23/11/2021 02:42

I'm blonde too and used to wear it when I was younger but I prefer black mascara. Brown doesn't have the same impact. But I have naturally black lashes so brown would look weird

TheRussianDoll · 23/11/2021 20:46

Try Collection 2000 Lash Surge in Brown/black. Only £5.99p at Boots. Excellent

TheRussianDoll · 23/11/2021 20:48

Are there any Brown? I’ve only ever seen Black/Brown 😊

TheRussianDoll · 23/11/2021 20:51

Sorry. Just noticed it’s COLLECTION. (Not 2000). At Boots or Superdrug.

BayandBlonde · 23/11/2021 20:56

Brown is softer for daytime.

I'm currently wearing a Burgundy colour by YSL. Makes a nice change to brown

I'm reaaaallly pale and have really fair eyelashes. I use a clinique chocolate brown one, tubing, comes off with hot water but otherwise doesn't budge. I much prefer it to the black in the same formula is it looks much more natural on me.
RobertaFirmino · 23/11/2021 23:23

I always use brown mascara and liner - I'm 45 and black seems a bit too harsh these days. I like Max Factor's 2000 Calorie and False Lash Effect.

AliceAldridge · 23/11/2021 23:26

I always wore brown, until I got a black Diego Dalla Palma one in my M&S advent calendar and now I always wear that because I love it. Am v fair!

FrankiesKnuckle · 23/11/2021 23:50

Blue is back?!
I used to love revlon lash lights in dark blue - about 20 years ago and then it was discontinued. I shall seek out a good navy blue.

ZenNudist · 23/11/2021 23:57

I wear brown mascara. I'm blonde with fair skin and blue eyes. I don't think it makes much difference it looks better on me than black.

Thanks for that @BayandBlonde! I've been after a burgundy mascara so I went over to YSL for a look and bought that, a primer and some perfume - with their Black Friday offer I got 30% off and a free lipstick too 😀
SocksAndTheCity · 24/11/2021 00:37

Back on topic, I like the Benefit They're Real tinted lash primer in Mink - it looks really natural worn on it's own and it's my go to when I'm not wearing any other makeup Smile

KimmyKimdoo · 24/11/2021 11:06

Burgundy!! Cannot even imagine that! Oohhhhh I want to see that on now…

I have fair eyelashes that just aren’t visible without mascara, then suddenly look really long with black mascara on! I’ve often been asked if I wear false lashes but I only wear Clinique black mascara!

I do fancy a more natural look for a change - I’m not aiming for false lash look - it’s just quite impactful next to my skin/ eye colour.
