If you DON'T get gels, which polish do you use?

Just that really. Any recs for really good longer lasting ones? I can't afford to get gels (either in time or money - they don't last long on me)

@romanroy

Nails inc kale base coat or Kensington caviar base coat

Any colour polish I like, mixture of Rimmel (genuinely high quality formula, nice colours, great brush, cheap), nails inc colours, Essie

Nails inc Kensington caviar top coat.

The base and top are very important. I get at least a week out of mine and I have a pre-schooler so constantly washing my hands etc.

Wow those look great. And impressive they last that long. Love your username too...

I get a week out of Essie Gel Effect polishes with the Gel Effect top coat. Lasts much better on me than the normal Essie formula.

Thanks @nanbread Grin

Rimmel 60 second gel look
Quite hard wearing easy to touch up if it does chip and quick to dry
I love it
Cheap as chips too

That's fab, lovely dazzle dust.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel. It is by far the best polish I've ever used. It always lasts a week. I will never use another polish ever again.

Revlon Gel Envy is also good, but not as good as Sally Hansen.

I WFH and paint my nails while I'm in some woeful teams meeting Grin

Aw I'm so glad some read and liked! He sounds great doesn't he.

I like the bit where they decided to open new factory in fashion centre of London- mill hill East ! 😂😂😂

For non locals it's a totally unremarkable part of North London 😁

CheeseMmmm · 23/11/2021 20:58

Oh sorry context was Barry m link!

Nitgel · 23/11/2021 21:20

It's local to me too cheese. I think I remember their old factory Grin fashion central mill hill east

TattiePants · 23/11/2021 21:37

As you can tell I have a thing for Essie plus a bit of Nails Inc. I always use the Essie base coat and Seche Vitae or Nails Inc Caviar top coat.

Maybelline 7 Day nail polish is amazing. I’ve got weak nails and Essie etc chips after a day or so. The Maybelline 7 days lasts all week and it’s cheap as chips.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 23/11/2021 23:23

I bought a £20 uv nail lamp and a gel top coat which I use over a normal colour like Essie, Rimmel or no7.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 23/11/2021 23:28

Oh and Barry m - glittery clear is very good top coat normal varnish.

Hello person nearish to me!

Love that whole about us page! So funny and warm.

I get OPI put on at the salon.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 24/11/2021 22:29

Essie, Rimmel, Maybelline, Mavala plus a few others.

I have just cleaned off the very last bits of Essie from my big toes that I applied mid Sept🤣
On my hands nothing seems to last: if I have 1 coat (which is bearable) it chips in no time and even if I have 2 coats my nails feel heavy (which I hate) so I always start picking at the polish....

in summary nothing looks good for more than a day (2 if lucky). I have a fridge drawer full of varnish and I barely use them because I just don't have time to re-do it every day /every other day😭

I just hate, hate, HATE removing gel nails.

I hate removing gels too. It's bollocks.

Plus gel is bulky. I prefer the thinness of proper polish. Can always tell when it's gel.

Saurus72 · 25/11/2021 11:52

Nailberry colour polish with Nails Inc topcoat. I can usually go 4-5 days before it starts to wear at the tips. I use them mainly because they’re cruelty-free, but the performance is pretty good (I’ve never had gels).
