What to wear with this jacket, how to style it?

I have to make this work for sentimental reasons.

It was bought for me on a whim, in 1991 when I was 10 by someone I loved dearly and who isn’t with us now, (so let’s not slate the jacket because I know already it’s hit and miss Grin )

I was taken to a shop and told to choose anything I wanted and 10 year old me picked this Star obviously the style is dated and that’s why I love it.

I have lost a lot of weight so finally can fit in to it, and have an alternative style so am happy to wear anything at all if it makes this coat work.

Help me please guys x

I think it would work fine with some jeans and some brown chunky boots.

SisterAgatha · 22/11/2021 08:07

Do you think dark jeans or light like would have been the style then?

Just to also say excuse the mess on the bed, I got this out of the loft so all the stuff got dumped there Grin

It's great! Simple navy dress/leggings/jeans. I would just avoid black with it.

EeeByeGummieBear · 22/11/2021 08:18

White shirt and straight legged jeans? Or a beige jumper/ light coloured jumper?
I'm not very good at these things, but as the jacket looks a little chunky I would image something fitted/ not chunky underneath would work best.
Let us know how you get on!

I thought dress too as it’s cropped it would mean any too underneath would pop out the bottom.

I like the white shirt idea too, I could tuck it in and wear a nice brown and gold belt?

Thanks all ❤️

I can picture
Light stonewash jeans. Straight leg.
White/cream t-shirt or jumper.
Hair up in messy bun - nothing too styled.

OhMyCrump · 22/11/2021 08:24

I think its great and others have shared some great suggestions.
But have I got it right that you have slimmed down enough to fit into a jacket you had when you were 10!!

SisterAgatha · 22/11/2021 08:28

Love that mrsfoxy!

Yes I have got that slim but I was a big 10 year old, haha, so it’s probably a size 10 I’d say Grin

Not sure you need to be recreating your whole 10 year old self Smile

I think the jacket lends itself to the "prairie" look with a midi dress and boots.

Well done on your weight loss - I couldn't even fit into the glasses I wore when I was 10!

This is what I struggle with really with vintage items 🤣 I look back at pics of then and think right so I need x,y,z to complete the look!

Thanks, weight loss took 18 months but I’m better for it. My bottom half is still a 12 so I’m not tiny x

I absolutely LOVE it!!!!

I think k it would look so cool with a white/cream cropped top if you can get away with that, skinny black jeans and brown boots. There's no way I could pull that off now, but it's what I imagine I would have pulled off when I had a jacket like that in circa 1997 Grin

notacooldad · 22/11/2021 10:58

I would be looking on EMP for a longish dress and wearing it with chunky boots. I would also wear it with my jeans and fitted t shirts.
I love it!!

OnyxOryx · 22/11/2021 11:22

I'd wear it with plaid shirts and jeans or polo neck and cargoes. I've got jackets similar to this.
