How many do you have in regular use October - April?

I have two: a Barbour puffer Parka that's around 4 years old and a dusky pink double breasted coat (wool-ish) that was from principles in March 2020 weeks before lockdown.

I have these by the door and I wear the Barbour in the rain and the wool if it's dry.

Then a old but wearable are: green body warmer (dog walks), a seasalt orange waterproof and a very warm but aged fat face waterproof with a down filling - good for Xmas markets etc.

How many do you have (and do I need more) I feel I need to add or replace. What should I buy?

I have a navy quilted Next jacket with hood that I wear most of the time. It’s battered now though and needs replacing.

I have a Paddington style duffle coat that is lovely and v warm.

I have a North Face thin anorak which is good for wet days but not very warm.

And a long padded Jack Wolfskin coat which is good for when it’s freezing.

What I do need is a smarter fitted black jacket/blazer/coat for going out in the evening but haven’t found anything I like

SickAndTiredAgain · 21/11/2021 22:45

A yellow waterproof jacket that mainly gets worn to the playground with DD as it’s easy to get muddy marks off it if I pick her up
A blush pink trench coat but this is more autumn/spring than winter
A maroon knee length wool coat
A smarter coat/jacket that I’d wear out in the evening
A brown leather jacket

I’m 13 weeks pregnant and hoping to get by without needing a maternity coat! I managed it with DD but was only about 9 weeks pregnant at this point in the year. Plus I spent a lot less time standing around in cold playgrounds.

A Didrikson knee length waterproof, purchased a few months ago. Very warm. Only switched to using it about a month ago.
A Fat Face hooded gilet, about 9 years old, not waterproof but pretty warm. Generally with a big jumper & another long sleeved top underneath.
For wet weather in early spring - late autumn, I have a Joules lined, unpadded mid thigh length raincoat, that I wear with or without a fleece jacket or a thin padded gilet underneath.
Or, I just wear the thin gilet in summer. It's from Uniqlo. One of the ones you can roll up & pack into a tiny sack.

Basically - a winter raincoat, a summer raincoat, a winter gilet & a summer gilet.

We have no car so we do all the shopping on foot a fair distance from the shops, & I generally don't believe in having an excessive amount of stuff.

I have
Long Padded coat/ 2 every day jackets.
Black gilet/ pink gilet both padded
2 North face jackets
1 Superdry jackets
Several Shawls/wraps
I also have 3 formal dressy coats.

OublietteBravo · 21/11/2021 22:52

The ones I wear regularly are:
A short, khaki puffer jacket from Mountain Warehouse
A long, pale grey down coat from Lands’ End
A lightweight, khaki jacket (with red cuffs and lots of pockets) from Boden
A brown tweed jacket from Next
A blue waterproof (don’t know where it’s from - I’ve had it since at least 2010)

I’m not sure I’m always stylish, but at least I’m warm and dry!

A Seasalt Janelle coat for cold, wet walks and a blue ‘teddy bear’ single breasted one for more dressed-up occasions. On mild Autumn/Spring days, I usually wear a gilet.

Bobbybobbins · 21/11/2021 22:58

I have a long very thick padded coat for cold weather
A short lightly padded coat that I wear a lot
A yellow waterproof
A black technical waterproof that rolls up small
A gilet
A smart pink wool coat
A smart black wool coat

Just got rid of my trench coat as never wore it

I have a long black Michael Kors coat that is quite smart. A long grey woollen coat by Mango. Then a dark Joules hooded waterproof coat and a navy Barbour jacket, both in decent condition but old and for dog walking/woods trips. I don't have a biker or aviator jacket which seem to be common suggestions on here for the milder days at the moment.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 21/11/2021 23:06

I have my heavy winter waterproof Barbour parka which I love when it's really cold. This is my fourth winter wearing it.

I also have a lighter padded Barbour for the autumn and less cold winter days. It's still lovely and warm but not as heavy as the other one and really comfortable.

I have a seasalt long raincoat for mild autumn days

I also have a Ralf Lauren light padded jacket which I wear if I'm just going to be popping in and out of the car.

Then I have two Uniqlo formal coats , one grey and one black for when I'm going out and want something smarter. They are not very warm though.

Scarby9 · 21/11/2021 23:13

Two currently in use.

One is the navy puffy hooded zip up jacket from the Mountain Warehouse thst I wear 99% of the time.

The second is a waterproof walking jacket worn - guess what - for walking in the rain. Haven't done much walking in the rain yet this winter.

The third coat, not yet out of the cupboard this year, is the long Seasalt Janelle, bought last year for meeting people outdoors in all weathers. It is so warm and waterproof, and its time will come again...

Camel Uniqlo cashmere long formal coat.
Barbour navy quilted jacket with a hood. Mad with myself for not putting a stitch in the belt which has slipped out of the loops and disappeared.
Teal green waterproof quilted jacket with a tan fur lined hood.
Red Next wool short pea coat.
Black Windsmoor fingertip length cashmere/wool coat
Best one is my reversible black fake fur/waterproof hooded jacket which I bought from M&S about 30 years ago. Wear it every winter and get compliments.

Zebracat · 21/11/2021 23:44

Wrap green parka with warm detachable lining not waterproof, sadly. Baleno Kensington, long and waterproof, nearly warm enough.. Tweedy navy single breasted coat. Denim jacket. Jersey blazer. Duck egg waterproof. Would love a Matt puffer of some sort, , no shine, no waist, no fake fur, but I don’t need it.

bendmeoverbackwards · 21/11/2021 23:52

I love coats, I have far too many!

For mild-ish days - navy blue Boden Howell jacket
Colder days - dark green velvet puffer jacket from Whistles OR black faux fur Zara coat
Bloody freezing! - navy blue long padded Hollister coat (sale bargain)

I also have a black leather biker jacket

Tuckedinbelly · 21/11/2021 23:57

Four?

Floor length belted black Cos. Smartest but worn today with leggings.

Short pink A line low end designer. Makes me look like a marshmallow. Love it.

Long check Isabel marant. Several years old. The original shacket that many an imitation were born from.

All wool or wool mix for warmth. Love a coat.

Waterproof Rains for shop runs.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/11/2021 00:02

Loads - collected up over years and years though:

Monki puffer/duvet long coat (this year but bought via Depop)
Whistles hooded parka
Topshop pink wool coat
Jigsaw short rust faux fur jacket
Other Stories black faux fur mid length coat (this year)
ASOS leopard print faux fur
Uniqlo Del Boy style jacket
Whistles long tan teddy coat
Zara knee length dark brown teddy coat
Warehouse cream knee length faux fur
Topshop cream teddy jacket

At this time of year I also wear my Whistles leather biker jacket layered with a blanket scarf.

AnnieSnap · 22/11/2021 00:09
