Electric diffusers

Any recommendations? I’m leaning towards The White Company’s or Neom’s electric diffuser but would appreciate hearing your thoughts first!

I love my Neom diffuser! I don't know anything about the other one, but I use mine virtually every day and I don't go in much for gadgets.

Their oil blends aren't cheap but they're lovely too, and I like that you can put it on before bed and leave it to switch itself off 😊

HidingFromDD · 21/11/2021 21:45

tbh pretty much any diffuser from amazon will work and save you £50 to spend on some decent oils

NightmareSlashDelightful · 21/11/2021 21:50

I have two; a cheapo one from Amazon that looks like a boob with a steaming nipple on it, and a pricey Espa one that looks a bit like a milk bottle but nice.

Inside they’re exactly the same. Even the plastic bit around the sonic doodah is the same. The only difference is the Amazon one is wood-effect plastic, and the Espa one is ceramic. Oh and the lights on the Espa one are dimmable.

You don’t have to get the fake wood plastic nork but you don’t have to spend £100 on one either, it’s the oils that need to be decent quality.

I was given the white company diffuser last Xmas. I love it. The 'winter' and 'Seychelles" oils are lovely.

iframedrogerrabbit · 21/11/2021 22:05

I have the Oliver Bonas electric diffuser. It looks great. You can time it to be on for half an hour, 1 hour, 2 hours or 3. It has the option of different light colours on it but I don't bother with those. I buy the neom oils to use with it but any oils will do.

This, it's not the diffuser, it's what you put in it tbh. So, depending on budget, any diffuser you like the look of, but pay more for good quality oils. Holland and Barrett usually have Bogof or have them in the penny sale for example. Be wary of "blends" like those often sold for Christmas. Many are about 80% carrier oils (ie cheap sweet almond oil etc)
ShirleyBadass · 22/11/2021 06:49

Same as PP, I have an Oliver Bonas and use oils from Holland and Barrett.

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 22/11/2021 06:56

I have an M&S one, don't need a timer as its on my bedside table and I turn it off when I turn the light off, it's ceramic and looks nice, has a light. But I bought someone a similar one in John Lewis recently for £50 that had a timer and is fine. Couldn't justify double the price for the same thing from Neom. I use oils and blends from Neals Yard and Absolute Aromas.

Mercurial123 · 22/11/2021 07:10

Mine is from Muji it's ceramic. Great quality it's 5 years old.

Rina66 · 22/11/2021 07:33

I was given the Neom one for my birthday, use it every day, it scents the room beautifully with the 'happy' oil. I've just bought myself the new larger version and the Christmas oil, there was an offer in on the Neom site. I'm going to move the smaller one to my bedroom with the Neom lavender sleep oil. I bought one for my Mum and even my Dad notices when it's not on!

justswaying · 22/11/2021 07:57

I got given the rituals genie diffuser. I really like the look of it but you have to buy rituals cartridges not oils. Which may work out expensive. However I've had mine since august and my cartridge hasn't run out yet!

Rina66 · 22/11/2021 08:31

I've got the Rituals one too @justswaying but I put it away about a year ago - remind me, do I need to use it with the app or can I just buy a cartridge and turn it on?

justswaying · 22/11/2021 08:36

@Rina66 I've only ever used it with the app, there really should just be a button on there shouldn't there?! All this new fangledness Grin

Rina66 · 22/11/2021 08:45

Ah, that's why I put it away, I just wanted an on off switch!

BringMeTea · 22/11/2021 08:54

I have the M&S ceramic one and the wood effect giant boob one from Amazon. M&S is diffuser of choice as prettier but wood boob has bigger water reservoir. Lots of reviews of the M&S say it broke straight away but mine is going strong 2 years so... at £29.95 I would definitely get that before Neom or White Company. I do like it.

evilharpy · 22/11/2021 10:51

I have a wood-effect plastic one from Amazon and it works perfectly - as others have said, save your money and spend it on good quality oils. I really like the Ellia blends which you can get from Amazon and I've seen them in department stores and posh garden centres. This one is nice.

WingingItSince1973 · 22/11/2021 11:16

I have a few cheaper ones from Amazon that work well and have timer etc. Have also got into electric wax melts that are lamps too. I have one that has a timer and the 2 others just on most of day and switch off at bedtime. The wax melt never runs dry and uou can also use oils too. X

turnaroundtime · 22/11/2021 21:16

I had 2 different ones but they started to smell funky after a bit. A sort of damp laundry smell. Was there something I did wrong?

Aderyn21 · 22/11/2021 21:56

TKMaxx had a load - I wish I’d got one in there instead of wasting £50 on mine!

PerditaNitt · 22/11/2021 22:01

@turnaroundtime mine went a bit funky smelling after a year or so. I think I must have let it run dry and the oil had clogged up the valve. I’ve never quite got it back to its old self - even after trying to clean it out multiple times Sad. I quite want a neom one but I’d be gutted if the same thing happened after spending £100.

steponthetightrope · 22/11/2021 22:09

I use the humidifier that we used for when the kids were young and always ill. I use an Aesop oil and it's fab! Not a very pretty diffuser, though.

WhatHoMarjorie · 22/11/2021 22:11

There are some nice ceramic ones on Amazon for around the £30 mark. I'd buy one of those rather than shell out £100 for the one. As others have said, there's no real difference between how any of them function.

WhatHoMarjorie · 22/11/2021 22:12

*£100 for the Neom one

PercyPigIsMyPinkPal · 22/11/2021 22:14

I’ve bought cheap Amazon ones and they always end up smelling funky after a while.
I have the Neom one (actually I have 2) and they are constantly on and have never smelled funky.
You can clean them with white vinegar and a cotton bud, I just rinse mine out after every use with clean water.

Nefelibata86 · 22/11/2021 22:21

Anyone know if these are a bed idea in a damp house?
