The red one, as it’s waterproof ( I doubt it is actually waterproof but hopefully it’s at least water resistant.

I’d not buy a light coloured coat as it would get mucky too quickly. Just because you can machine wash a coat doesn’t mean it’s good for it or that you’ve the time or inclination.

WafflesOrIceCream · 21/11/2021 20:20

Thanks. I know she likes shiney things so did wonder about that light coloured one but like you said cant see her mother putting it in the wash every week

I like the middle one. The colour goes with everything and it looks lovely and warm.

PennyWus · 21/11/2021 20:46

The red one is little bit boring. My DD (11) would love the third one, the second one would also be liked. I wash my kids' anoraks frequently and they dry overnight in our heated ddrier. My dd walks to school and her coat only needs to be shower proof as she uses an umbrella in heavy rain. She doesnt really get her coat that dirty.

magicstars · 21/11/2021 20:47

I'd go for the lightest one so she can be seen easily in the dark through winter.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/11/2021 20:49

My 10yo would chose number 2. Wouldn't touch number 3, number 1 would be acceptable.

MrsFoxyplease · 21/11/2021 20:49

My DD 10 would much prefer to choose herself and I'd not risk chosing something she didn't like and wouldn't wear tbh.

MrsFoxyplease · 21/11/2021 20:51

I don't think she'd happily wear any.
I like no1. But I'm 41.

AnotherMansCause · 21/11/2021 20:55

Waterproof. Always, unless she already has a decent waterproof for winter & just wants something less crinkly, specifically to wear on cold dry winter days.

Quornflakegirl · 21/11/2021 20:55

I have two 9 year olds and I wouldn’t buy any personally but I like number 1 best.

cherrypiepie · 21/11/2021 21:16

If she likes shiny things I'd go no 2, the blue one. As it's shiny and girly but not as pale (abs needing lost kd washing) and in your face as 3.

3 would be great for weekends and days out but number two would do most occasions.

Number 1 is a bit dull for a girl that likes shiny things Grin

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/11/2021 21:17

My dd is 10 soon and she wouldn't like any of them - they look like toddler coats to me.

JamesWilbysAbs · 21/11/2021 21:34

Number 3

PivotPivotPivottt · 21/11/2021 22:15

I have a 10 year old and she wouldn't wear any of those, I don't particularly like any of them either. My 4 year old would love the 3rd one though!

Underthestairsbears · 21/11/2021 22:25

None of the girls in DSs class would wear any of them I'm afraid. Also DD wouldn't have at that age. They look a bit young. Ours seem to wear those lightweight puffa jackets, trespass anoraks or something a bit more grown up.

Rina66 · 22/11/2021 07:26

I much prefer this from Next...

At 10 I would definitely ask her opinion. My dd would love 3 and hate 2 but other girls wouldn't be seen dead in the pale pink one. Don't waste your money....ask her.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/11/2021 08:09

The khaki next one is a great shout!

kitcat15 · 22/11/2021 08:11

Definately Not a shiny coat .....ask her

Curtainpoleofdoom · 22/11/2021 08:50

What is your budget? Is she actually an age 10 in size? I always had to size up at least 3 sizes for my DC.

Washing waterproof clothes on a regular basis reduces their waterproof ness ( waterprooficity…?!). Kids need a warm coat that is water resistant at the very least, and is easy to move in and doesn’t make them sweat!

WafflesOrIceCream · 22/11/2021 09:24

@Rina66 that is what I also found

Rina66 · 22/11/2021 09:33

I'd go for it @WafflesOrIceCream - Next did a version of it by Emma Willis for women last year that sold out. I think girls at 10 like to feel a little bit grown up, normally year 6, so they're the 'big' girls at school!

WafflesOrIceCream · 22/11/2021 09:54

@Rina66 I will thankyou so much. And thankyou to everyone else too for your honest opinion.
