Comfortable plus size bra

supercatlady · 21/11/2021 09:59

I’ve had a tough year and my weight has rocketed.
I’m finding under wires really uncomfortable.
Is there such a thing as a comfortable, supportive, attractive bra?
I’m a 38E, dress size 18/20
I have looked at Molke but not keen on how they look.
Thank you

Truthfully I've not found one. Worth browsing the asda website as they have cheap non wired bras but they don't lift in the same way as the wired ones do.

stillcrazyafterall · 21/11/2021 10:26

I buy M&S bras (underwired). The thing is with under wired bras is they have to fit properly. I mean REALLY fit. I cannot feel my wired bra, the wires support my boobs by fitting against my rib cage at my cleavage and around the side. I have a few friends who say they are really uncomfortable but that's because they go by the size they think they are, not ones that fit. Drives me nuts!! Oh and I am 38/40 G depending on make.

Miss Mary of Sweden
I am a 42G

WillBillHal · 21/11/2021 10:34

I'm the same size as you and the best bra I've had is a non wired Triumph with the oh so glamorous name of Doreen!!! It's very frumpy but way more supportive than most under wired I've had!

AnnieSnap · 21/11/2021 12:10

Maybe try Miss Mary of Sweden. There are ugly ones, but also pretty ones. I used to wear them. I now wear Wacoal and love them, but I’m a 38DD. I’m not sure what their cup sizes go up to, but I really rate them.

I’m very happy to recommend the Freedom bra…. It’s pretty attractive as well as comfortable and gives a good shape. Not quite as boosted as with an underwire but without all the disadvantages they bring. ( I was a 36G but now an F cup)

I think it’s a female owned company too.

DidgeDoolittle · 21/11/2021 13:03

I am the same size as you, both bra size and clothes size.
I have recently bought Flexi fit bras from m and s. They are so bloody comfortable. £20 so not mega expensive. I've thrown my under wired bras out.

BeginningBridge · 21/11/2021 13:28

I am a 40g and find the Fantasie Helena a very comfortable bra. I've tried others but always go back to this one.

poolblue · 21/11/2021 13:34

I like the Fantasie Jacqueline but have had other Fantasie bras that have also been good

AntiCornLawLeague · 21/11/2021 13:51

I like the Bravissimo Nova lounge bra. It looks fine to me and is surprisingly supportive. No underwire and v comfy.

supercatlady · 21/11/2021 15:48

Wow!thank you - will have a look at all your suggestions 😊

It has to be bravissimo. I dont feel like I wear a bra at all and I'm a good bit bigger than you.

Bigpinkslippers · 22/11/2021 16:09

Freedom bras. Just done my 3rd order. Don't wear anything else these days as they're so comfy. I'm 36G

ifherbumwereabungalow · 22/11/2021 16:12

I bought a couple of non wired bras from a Yours shop, an actual shop where I could try them on! I am massive of boob and can wear them all day without getting irritated. I think they were £14 each.

BusterGonad · 22/11/2021 16:30

I wear these M&S lace non padded bralettes, they start at an F but to be honest I have them in a few different sizes (I'm normally a 34FF to G depending on the brand) and they all fit well. Maybe try the 38F and see what you think. To me they are ultra comfortable and I wear them most days. If I'm dressing up I'll wear my wired bra.

I have two of these and they are amazing.

Divebar2021 · 22/11/2021 16:43

My mum raves about Flexifit at M&S but she’s a B cup so can wear pretty much any of them. My only experience as a G cup was that it was tight and gave me monoboobs. Over the years M&S have produced some of the most hideous bras for big boobs that I’ve ever seen. Big thick shoulder straps & huge, huge cups that practically show if you wear a V neck. When you compare them to the styles that Bravissimo, Freya, Fantasie ( even Asda) produce I’m really loathed to waste my time ordering them having to return. I’ve barely found a bra that fits properly there for 10 years. ( sorry, rant over )

Triffid1 · 22/11/2021 16:48

M&S non-underwired bras for larger breasts/women have improved IMMENSELY post lockdown. Miraculously, I think they are actually LISTENING to women. I have a flexifit one which is great, and two others that are comfortable but slightly less supportive.

When I can bring myself to spend a lot, I'm going to try Cosabella. They look lovely, but so so pricey.

Triffid1 · 22/11/2021 16:49

The one @Sunshineandrainbow posted is the one I have that I find comfortable, but a bit less supportive. Although worth noting that I need side support more than underneath support so that might be why.

BusterGonad · 22/11/2021 17:32

Yep, Sunshineandrainbow has linked the ones I mentioned. My boobs wobble a bit in them but I don't care as they are comfy and can be washed with a normal load on a 30 or 40 wash. I love them. I have 5.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/11/2021 17:37

M and S flexifit. Do NOT understand the love for Molke Confused

BusterGonad · 22/11/2021 19:06

I think I need to take a look at the flexo fit. They sound great.

goose1964 · 22/11/2021 19:29

I find Curvy Kate are the most comfortable. Even though they're underwired I forget I'm wearing one. Today's is a bright yellow, my grandson was most impressed.

Kjr33 · 22/11/2021 19:49

Matalan non wired ones not exactly super attractive but oh so comfy
