What to wear under this dress?

I've got this green velvet wrap dress for Christmas, but it's maybe a bit to big at the top. I could put a stitch in the wrap but I think a camisole/ vest top underneath would make it easier for me to wear (not sure when- I have no parties so will probably just wear it to my mums for Christmas!).

Do I just go plain black? Or attempt to make more of a feature somehow? Lace/glitter/colour?!

I would stitch it more - I'm not a fan of wearing something underneath this type of dress. I love it btw!! They don't have it in my size otherwise I would have bought it too!

The dress calls for the stitch rather than a camisole. Pretty dress!

As a second option, if you really wanted to go down the route of layering, then a long sleeved t-shirt is a possibility, but it's a little quirky.

Definitely a stitch. I am rather voluptuous and always used to wear cami tops under wrap dresses until I looked at some photos and realised how much more frumpy it looked than just putting a stitch in the v neck.

Another vote for stiching.
It is very nice

If it's too large in the bust a stitch might just emphasise that. Pink goes well with green.

My advice would be to wear a decently supported bra, one that'll lift & separate, as it were.

Clarabellawilliamson · 20/11/2021 21:35

I will try it on again with a stitch and a very good bra.... if I was wearing it 'out' it would be easier- I'm likely to be pairing it with slippers at home/ with family just so I can get some wear out of it 😂 I've bought a size 16- I've never been this big before so I'm trying really hard to be brave!

How about a simple satin cami top? Zara have this one in 7 colours: https://www.zara.com/uk/en/camisole-satin-top-p07385025.html?v1=147779311&gclid=CjwKCAiA1uKMBhAGEiwAxzvX9wwRI5g6V-Le1tviIoK45zftWABEcInaOQo0etejwNuOzEdb990aBoCoKQQAvDBwE

I think a stitch could cause an uneven pull and a cami could look wrong. If there is a problem here, can you not go down a size?

Clarabellawilliamson · 20/11/2021 22:20

I think a smaller size might be too small from the waist down! 😂

I'm not the same build/body type as you, but I wear crop top bras under lower cut dresses. Because they finish under the bust, you don't get a messy line or anything riding up, and it's a bra, so there's no extra bulk. I haven't lived in the UK for a long time, but I used to buy mine in M&S or Asda.
