Tragus piercing - plastic barbell?

I quite fancy this but I'd like to use a transparent bar for the healing period, is this possible? I have other body piercings done with needle and stainless steel but nothing on my ears other than lobes.

I’d get titanium. When I got mine done they said that was the least likely to cause reactions. They said avoid surgical steel.
