Silk shirt - opinions on fitted or oversize

I'm going to treat myself to a black silk shirt - to wear with jeans, coated jeans and with slip skirts. I've tried a size 10 which is the sort of look I'd normally go for - a bit fitted but not at all tight. But in some ways the size 12, which is baggy, looks good too, as the oversize look tucked it in the front seems more current. It is expensive, so I don't want to make the wrong decision. Has anyone got any thoughts on the best fitting to get?

Personally, I love the juxtaposition of an elegant / 'fancy' fabric and a casual fit. Also feels more current and versatile.

Floisme · 19/11/2021 15:48

I like them oversized.

EllaPaella · 19/11/2021 16:02

With jeans/coated jeans I would go oversized

apinions · 19/11/2021 16:08

Thanks. It would only be worn for going out, and I guess I'm used to wearing slimmer fit clothes, especially as I have lost weight recently. But it does feel more current in an oversized fit, although it then looks rubbish with a skirt.

Not necessarily - if you do a bit of a tuck with the skirt, could look very nice.

It depends on what you plan to wear it with. With skinny jeans or leather leggings then I'd go oversized. With a waisted skirt or high waist flares I'd go fitted and tuck it in.

I prefer silk shirts to be a bit loose.

I've got a black over-sized one, but feel a bit Robert Smith in it tbh and therefore don't wear it very much.

Have also got a slightly more fitted one that I wear tucked in with skirts, but I seem to have lost it. It's probably hiding at the bottom of the ironing pile.

Oversized, an extra button open and sleeves rolled up. Smile

Hilarious, I've now got visions of Robert Smith, and I've got his frizzy hair too!

I love him, but I don't want to look like him.

thisplaceisweird · 20/11/2021 21:14

Definitely oversized.

StarlightLady · 20/11/2021 22:12

I always go for fitted, but l’m a 36F bra size and otherwise it looks as if l’m wearing a tent.

apinions · 22/11/2021 20:43

Thanks for all your comments. I sized up, half tucked in, with the sleeves rolled up, button undone and with a gold pendant it looks good. Hopefully no Robert Smith vibes Wink

Oversized. Slightly too large is always much more elegant than slightly too fitted.

Lol

I have a gorgeous teal one but the ironing...eek...debating ebay as it doesn't fit anymore.

I prefer fitted but that's just me. Not one for fashion rules, everyone do as they wish IMHO.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/11/2021 20:26

Teal sounds lovely.
