Pre-pregnancy clothes

My first ever thread so apologies if it’s not in the right place!

I had my baby nearly 5 months ago now and as I’ve started to shift some of the weight that I put on, I decided tonight to go through my pre-pregnancy clothes and pull out some winter bits that might fit…only all I felt was a massive urge to get rid of the lot and start again!

I feel like a completely different person to the one that wore those clothes - has anyone else felt similar? If you did and got rid of things, did you regret it later? Where did you shop for your new wardrobe?

Thanks in advance for any replies Smile

Hi! I'm 3.5 years post pregnancy and still haven't rediscovered my style! So frustrating but I'm.getting there. Started slowly and building up my wardrobe again with timeless classice in the right sizes and spending a bit more money than I used to on individ items that will last longer

Just before a chunk of unpaid leave wasn’t the right moment for me to start from scratch with a wardrobe 😂

Also, I started liking things again once they all fitted well. That took a while but then I was glad I kept things.

Thrilled to have some answers, thank you Smile

@Fluffyhairdontcare I think that spending a bit more money on timeless bits is a good guideline. Looking at my stuff, there’s a lot of cheaper “fast fashion” things that just don’t look/make me feel good now. I also have a few dresses from when I was in my early 20s (I’m mid 30s now) that I think that I just need to let go.

@WashableVelvet I would have just the handful of leggings and tops that I’ve been living in post pregnancy for at least a couple of months if I started from scratch now so there is that to think about!

I have made a pile to reconsider so I’m glad that you found that you did go back to things.

I wore breastfeeding tops for about 10 months after I had mine - t shirts, long-sleeved tops and a special hoodie with zips. I was so excited to get back into my old clothes when I went back to work, but I had gone off most of them. Obviously being pregnant and then having a small baby for 6-12 months is knocking on for 2 years of being in maternity/postpartum clothes, and that's 2 years of fashion seasons too!

Add in a few bits you do like, and maybe don't get rid of anything you really invested in like coats just yet. Plus, do remember that sometimes you will want to sit around in your old faithful leggings and that's fine!

I have come back to some of my things but I'm back to my old shape 3 years later.

Put it into bags but don't throw it away. I had my last child 3 years ago and I've gone through phases of only wearing sports clothes or buying clothes I thought mums should wear ie. Boden and now back to my old style. I got rid of some lovely clothes which I really regret.
