Just wondering if anyone has bought anything wow from Boden recently?

Sadly, this season there's literally nothing I would consider buying from Boden. And I used to get most of my clothes from them

bestbeforedateexpired · 17/11/2021 08:19

Not buying from them as Johnnie Boden is a major financial supporter of hunting

Phwooooar · 17/11/2021 08:22

I’ve bought things in the past but have to admit it all looks so frumpy. Was considering the cord jacket

Their basics are good. Neutral tops and shirts as well as silk shirts. I like their richmond trousers too. This year I bought a cashmere sweater and a cashmere vest. Both really good but I think the vest is not in stock any more.

CointreauVersial · 17/11/2021 12:16

Honestly, Boden's prices have rocketed so much recently that even at 30% off I have to think twice. I used to buy one or two bits a year, but not any more.

Runaroundtrain · 17/11/2021 12:19

I ordered a cashmere jumper a few weeks back. It was a really strange shape on and when I laid it out flat, not only was one sleeve longer than the other but the actual body was wider on the left than it was on the right. Hard to explain but it was as though the neckline was off-centre. And it was really thin. Straight back!

coronafiona · 17/11/2021 12:22

I don't like anything they've got, it's seems so old fashioned and frumpy. And even at 30% off it's too expensive, I'm with pp here!

PastramiNoRye · 17/11/2021 19:34

I'm so disappointed in Boden this year.
The fabrics are crap and anything I do like the shape of is in an odd print!

MagicMatilda · 17/11/2021 21:09

Completely agree, quality has gone very down hill this year. Last week I brought a dress, over £100 and was no better than something you would get from New Look for say £20.

LeicesterIntheMorning · 18/11/2021 05:27

I did take a look but the prices are so obscenely inflated, that I gave up. I don't bother with them anymore, and they used to be my go-to online shop!!

fiorentina · 18/11/2021 07:06

I ordered 3 dresses for work from there recently. All have gone back, not worth the money - poor fabric, a work style dress was quite see through and despite the photos in reality all looked v unstylish.

GreenVaseline · 18/11/2021 09:09

Their clothes were lovely years ago, especially the knitwear. Soft yet bright colours, interesting details like crochet edges or subtle embroidery, pure wool or cotton, fabrics that draped really nicely. Now everything seems to be a bit stiff and boxy, and just doesn't hang right. The quality just seems to have gone.

Jemimapuddleduk · 18/11/2021 09:45

I really rate their girlfriend jeans. Also some lovely chandelier type earrings which I have bought as gifts in both colour ways.

@bestbeforedateexpired
I never knew that - that’s shocking! Have to admit I’m not a Boden shopper but even less tempted now!

Wagsandclaws · 18/11/2021 12:21

I bought a 'Rachel' skirt worn 20 percent off, the quality is amazing and it's very heavy so falls beautifully.

Tbh it's the only thing I'd consider buying at full price, I still buy my 2 ds's bits from there as I do love their t shirts and joggers but their jumpers although cute bobble and are overpriced along with the rest of their stuff - likewise the white company, how they can charge so much for what is mostly polyester is beyond me.

yellowflowersintherain · 20/11/2021 08:01

I also like their girlfriend jeans. Also childrenswear still good in my experience.

IsabelGowdie · 20/11/2021 08:16

I’m just gutted they are not doing a plain cashmere polo neck this year. Just this thing… www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/cashmere-frill-neck-jumper-ivory/sty-k0493-ivo?cat=C1_S2_G6

Oh no, I didn’t know that! Have just stocked up on DC clothes but very tempted to return them all if this is the case. Grim Sad

Waxlyrically · 20/11/2021 21:15

I used to love Boden but the prices are ridiculous now, the quality has skydived and most of the styles look like toddler clothes for grown women! Sad because customer service etc is great

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/11/2021 21:36

I bought a dress for work, just before the first lockdown. Then lockdown happened. I wore it about ten times before it started to look like a rag. Sent them pics and all they'd do was give me a £10 voucher, because it was out of the 365 days thing. So, 80 or so quid on a dress that is unwearable after about ten times. I won't buy anything else from them unless it's in a charity shop.

AnnieSnap · 21/11/2021 01:43

I bought this coat recently. It’s beautiful and well finished. I love it, but I do agree that too much of their stuff misses the mark and is too expensive.

I have the cord jacket in navy, it's great. Good quality and fits well. I'm very pleased with it.
OompaLumpaLabrador · 21/11/2021 07:59

Another here who used to buy most of my clothes from Boden. I’ve not even used the £10 vouchers they keep sending me. The styles this year are so disappointing. The dresses were work staples in my wardrobe for years but I found nothing that appeals this season. In the end, I went to the clearance section on the Hobbs website and found five lovely dresses for work ( post WFH revamp) for half the price, and better quality than full price Boden. A couple of Boden coats looked nice, but they were again expensive compared with similar brands. I’m sad they aren’t doing any lovely tweed this winter as I fancied a jacket. Cashmere, I’ve discovered Woolovers which is better value for comparable quality. Cheaper knits, I’ve been pleased with FatFace.

And my DD12 said only the cruellest of mothers would make their twelve year old wear Boden so she’s also saved me a few quid 😂
