Hair shine/gloss product

My once shiny hair is dull and crap. I have hypothyroidism, which causes a really itchy scalp, abd dry hair, so my shampoo and conditioner options are very limited. My hair looks lovely just after I colour it but otherwise, just dull.

Are there any products out there that will add bit of shine? My hair is reasonably long, so can be tied back/up , but I'd still like to see a shine on my head area.

I would love something that would make mine shine too. My hair is white grey. I love the colour, but grey hair has no shine. I haven’t found a product yet that does the job.

You want something with natural oil in such as almond, argan, macadamia or coconut. Something that will be gentle on your scalp and nourishing to your hair.

I use Davines Oi oil.

I’ve been using the inky list scalp treatments and they are fab, also mythic oil from L’Oréal on the ends of my hair. Also I recommend having a trim as nothing helps as much as that imo. Sally hughes recommended a product called shrine the other day and I’m gonna ask my hairdresser about that as I can’t tell which blonde would be best for me, it’s a toner that you add to conditioner I’d love to find someone who has tried that.

Seconding Davies Oi Oil. My hair is blonde and tends towards dryness, but a combination of the Davies spray and oil really help to make it swishy and shiny. I'm blonde and I also really like their Heart of Glass serum. Don't rate their shampoos and conditioners much, though, so I'd steer clear of them, personally.

toastfiend · 16/11/2021 15:38

Don't know why I felt the need to say I'm blonde twice... 🤦‍♀️😂

Try L'Oréal 8 second wonder water. I find it brilliant.

friggingnora · 16/11/2021 17:02

Another vote for 8 Second Wonder Water.

Color Wow Pop & Lock shine serum gives my hair a lovely shine and the sprinkling of greys really sparkle. They also do a shine spray which is good, and apparently works even better if you spray it on and then use straighteners (my hair is too short for me to try that).

Vo5 do a spray for before blow drying
It is heat defence I think
Anyway it makes your hair really shiny
Occasionally I use an oil in my hair , Avon do a hair serum that is great x

Shwighty1 · 17/11/2021 23:48

Percy and Reed do a shine spray that smells lovely and makes your hair shiny and glossy

DerTrotzkopf · 18/11/2021 12:42

Might be expensive but years ago I had a glaze put on my hair by the colourist which made it really glossy.

AnnieSnap · 18/11/2021 16:58

@Shwighty1 thanks for the heads up. It’s a cruelty free brand too!👍

Anyoneforcoffee · 18/11/2021 17:19

Fushi really good hair oil applied for half an hour before washing seems good.

Oribe supershine moisturising cream is expensive but it’s the best hair product I’ve ever used. It should last ages though as you only need a very tiny amount.

Ouai hair oil is also excellent and a little bit less expensive (though still not cheap!). Again, you only need a drop or 2, so a bottle should last a long time.

Another thing that really works for me is to rinse my hair with apple cider vinegar mixed with water. I do it about once a week and it really adds shine to my hair.

LadyNell · 20/11/2021 02:10

Good old Gliss spray shine or I like coconut oil

KaycePollard · 20/11/2021 08:48

I use Frederick Fekkai products made specifically for blondes. Not available easily in the UK though so I stick up on them each time I’m in the USA. The blonde glosser is amazing. I think you can get them on Amazon if you’re not travelling regularly.

Blimey I'd forgotten i posted this! I'm a bit overwhelmed, but will have a look through for sone of the cheaper options thanks!
