What can I wear to a concert?

I have a concert coming up Soon at the O2 which I know gets very hot. I'm looking for a nice top that I could wear with my jeans. I'm a size 16 and conscious of my arms so don't want it to be sleeveless. Or any funky dresses? I'm in my mid 40s

Budget? Colour/style/fabric preferences?

creampuff99 · 14/11/2021 18:35

Budget up to around £100, material that won't make me too hot and sweaty, any colour and not skin tight

I was at the O2 last night - if you're standing it will be hot and I was fine in an old t-shirt and cargo pants (they had a small clear bag only policy which I couldn't be bothered with so the cargo pant pockets were handy; I don't know if that's for every event though).

I wouldn't bother forking out for anything new as it's dark anyway, but maybe a big shirt dress (mostly unbuttoned) over the jeans or on it's own? I have a black one from NA-KD which I wear a lot - it's long since OOS but they have a fair few on their site Smile.

Gigs = hot/sweaty but cold outside. I wear black (old black jeans, old trainers/DMs/black vest or T-shirt) plus a couple of warmer layers to pop round my waist. Have heaps and heaps of fun!!

Argo pants are a great idea. I also need a float top that will hide my stomach

Wouldn't you have an old, looseish T-shirt? You can always tuck a bit of it in, and I wore a lightweight sweater to travel in and then tied it round my waist like @tomatoplantproject. I wore old trainers too; the floor gets in a mess.

It's difficult to suggest things without knowing what sort of thing you're seeing, tbh - are you standing or seated, is it likely to be energetic dancing-wise (I was at the Ministry of Sound 30th anniversary do last night which is obviously going to be different from an opera or something), do you have very far to travel before and after/much to carry with you?

It is Pete Tong and we will be standing/ dancing!

And no we don't have far to travel afterwards

Yes you will! As will I, since I'm going to the Brighton one (which I think is a few days before the O2!) Glitterball😀

For that one I'm planning to wear a dark blue sequinned mini dress with a fringe - it's an ancient Kate Moss/TopShop one I've had lying about for years, but I love sequins. Black opaque dance tights (these are fantastic because they're footless - my feet get really hot and sore after a while) or possibly the cargo pants again depending on the weather, and provisionally a thin sweater for travelling that I can stuff in a bumbag, although if it's horrific outside I'll use the cloakroom and take a long coat.

Anyway, maybe something longish and swishy and with sequins then you can pick whichever bottoms you fancy? You could try eBay or Depop if there's nothing forthcoming in the shops.

Any of these?

Thanks for those suggestions. I really like Number 4. I also saw this top at Anthropologie which I love but am now thinking that if I am going to get new trousers, I need to stick to a lower budget. Does anyone know of a similar top going at a lower price?

Just to say I wish I could go to see Pete Tong at our local O2 but as I have epilepsy the light show would be too much!

So envious!
