Hello all! I have graduation at the end of this month and absolutely no idea what to wear or what is appropriate as I'm the first in my family 🙂
I am 30 years old so would like to remain modest. 5 foot and size 14 , not feeling my very best at the moment so if anyone has any flattering suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Shoes too please and as cheap as possible.
Also, for men attending as guests - is it full suit and tie or is a shirt and trousers acceptable?
Very much don't want us to look out of place.
Thanks for any help!

You will see the biggest range imaginable unless it is somewhere like oxford & Cambridge. The male graduates (or "graduands") will mostly be in suits, but certainly not all. The female graduates will be in everything from business attire to nightclub attire. Accompanying partners can wear what they like but people tend to be smart.
Most important thing: wear shoes you can comfortably walk across a stage in. Some of the nightclub dressed looked ridiculous tottering across in shoes they could barely stand up in.

Congrats ! I have just been to one and there was a lot of variation for sure but i thought everyone looked lovely and they all looked so happy to have the cap and gown on. The younger girls did tend to be wearing dresses that would be worn to the ultimate party but again mostly not short. They looked lovely, all different shapes and sizes. The girls 25 up were less club and more smart pub/interview. Again, just as lovely.

Guests do not have particular dress code and i noticed that there were less suits about with variations of smart trousers with blazer/smart bomber or just smart shirt. It will be most important to have nice photos of you happy on your special day. You worked hard for this, look your best for guess who? You!

You will cross a stage with gown on so as cheap as you like shoes, maybe court shoes. A smart midi dress from asos? Maybe you could order a few via klarna, try on at home for feel and fit. Buy the photo if you can and have fun.
