Curls on thick wavy hair?

I have vv thick hair that is naturally wavy. If I wash it, put anti frizz serum and leave it I get some wavy curls. Still a lot of frizz though.

My method for years has been to use anti frizz serum, blowdry it using a clamping brush to tame it, then us straighters to tame and polish it further. It still has a lot of bounce as its so thick.

But I'm curious about curls. Its currently longer than it has ever been and I'm wondering if there is a product that will make it ideally not frizzy at all, and is there a product that would make it all curly? Or is that not possible with wavy hair?

Has anyone tried Wonder Water?

If you're blow drying and using straightening irons, an alternative way to get good curls is to continue with your routine but twist the sections of hair in your straighteners to produce curls. Start twisting when you're a few inches down each section, moving quickly- you don't want to damage your hair.

Oops just coming back now. Shucks I knew it wouldn't be easy.

Ok so a plan sounds like:
Wash and use curl conditioner
Wide comb in shower while conditioner is on
Curl cream/mousse/gel while soaking wet
(not even towel dried a bit?)
OR
Add a Leave In Conditioner then curl product
Twist up in a towel then use a diffuser
OR
Leave to dry naturally and scrunch up curls
Pineapple overnight
Smooth down with products and fingers on day 2

Silk pillowcase - sounds like I need this regardless :)

Defo need to do a conditioning treatment.

@NotMyCat you are my curl idol!

My hairdresser friend suggested tying it into curls when wet.

With short layers I have a phobia as I once asked the hairdresser for a shaggy cut in the 90s when Winona Ryder had one and it was a disaster. I looked like I had a bale of straw on my head.

Lots of product suggestions to try.

If I get round to all this (need a splurge on Look Fantastic/Boots) I will try and upload some before and after hair pics.

I've started using Cantu products which seem good. Not keen on gel, so am trying a few other methods atm but similar to you have thick wavy hair that can curl into corkscrews too.
