what coat or jacket type would you choose?
I always struggle in inclement weather or harsh winter rains.

I look quite a bit like the girl on the left (but older) with very much the same colour and style of hair, build, etc. I tend to dress in this exact silhouette with a more fitted top and loose skirt (sometimes long, sometimes shorter) with boots. These are also my best colours.

So going off this image, and pretending this is meGrin, what style of coat/jacket would you recommend?
I have a long navy wool coat which is lovely but am stuck for other options, especially hoods (a hat might be preferable?). I was previously shoving a wax jacket on in the rain but it is tired and like a sack now.

For info: I don't like extremely trend driven stuff, and my skirts are a bit less voluminous than those in the pic.

unfortunately everything is permanently out of stock at poetry, on every damn page. Im also growing concerned by the recent reviews that almost every item is obscenely oversized.
sad, because I love their stuff but it rarely fits - I have a few older skirts that were altered to fit me.

That's strange, all showing in stock for me! I agree sizing can be a bit on the big size.

Have you looked at Boden? www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/cambridge-textured-coat-black/sty-u0013-blk

Personally I would go for a long coat (mid calf) which is quite full at the bottom. Hard to find these days without spending a lot of money. I got my last one which is even better than I hoped it would be off eBay. Super light keepers tweed with a fake fur collar that is warm and wind proof. £35.00 Otherwise a traditional Loden coat which has a large inverted pleat all the way down the back from the shoulder yoke. I bought mine over 40 years ago and it's still in use.
